ajers, stealthzergs, leechers and other parasites should not get arpees at all. they should get a popup instead, saying something like "no arpee for you, l2p first!".

you dont, so the game is obviously ment for people to group up... and just simple groups wasnt enough so they had to create a group of groups (battlegroup) ...
so obviously the intended game play design is people working together...
so much wrong in one post. this game perhaps was originally intended for group play but that doesn't necessarily mean that's indicative of the genre as a whole. the point of having hundreds of people playing at once is to let them decide for themselves what to do. freedom of gameplay defines this genre and makes it great, not restricting everything to those who bring enough people.
Divination posted: I've lost the desire to play anyway. As the game has become more and more of a skill-less gank and meaningless quest for useless RPs by outnumbering opponents and/or cheating with automated macros, etc, I have become less interested in it.
UO was a great game where skill meant something and DAOC used to have a hint of it between class imbalances, cheats and macro mashing, but now it's almost totally devoid of any skill whatsoever.
With all the CC and ganking the game is really unplayable for a solo. It isn't even fun, it's just an unplayable mess.
couldn't agree more, especially about UO and skill in DAOC these days. do you have any molvik characters? I'm having a blast on my new molvik nightshade and am getting a good number of solo kills a night.

The problem with making a little low level character, templating it and getting some kills is we should not have to look backwards to enjoy a zerg-free environment. Surely with the genius that this game has grown into the zerg problem could be addressed while progressing in our main toons. Some forward looking developers did away with neck check, ten minute wait for transport, and many many other silly things. Hopefully the spirit of development will resurface and zergs will become a part of the game still, but not the main part.

Swap NF for OF and everything would be better. NF is a retardedly poorly designed map/rvr zone.
The class imbalance, peoples playstyle is nothing one can do anything about but we could have a rvr zone that actually spreads the action out somewhat evenly in a predictable way with natural travel routs and staggering hotspots.
NF is just a mess:
go agramon bridge have your own realm mates add on all your fights.
go main keep bridge have your own real mates add on all your fights.
roam around where noone is means you get no fights since there is no natural travel route anyone else would take in a predictable manner.
go enemy agramon bridge get rolled by enemy fgs, stealthzergs.
go enemy main keep get coastguarded.
If you go close to structures where there are small nummbers of enemys they will use it and camp it never exposing themself to you in a fair fight making it pointless to you ( unless your willing to just go there get guards and donate the rps ).
If your a skald, minstrel you can roam around in a whole other way but still the story is the same, nobody is gonna be magically w8ing to fight you near say Berk tower 3, or Bolg tower 4 - they will all either be on the boat soon to be ganked by coastguard/fgs rolling through agramon or in their own realm w8ing for you to come get ganked by their bridge/mainkeep/other hotspot where the action is PREDICTABLE.
NF is a fail of epic proportions when it comes to casual/small man / solo action. For 8 mans it is good enough when you don't get adds every fight ( wich you get since soon as you start fighting you marked on a map lol.. ).
Now before you steam in here in an attempt to flame and bicker, think about it - what viable options do we really have for roaming/traveling in this broken NF zone?

I really don't see the issue here.
Since release I've played solo, 8man, zerg, small man, and hell, pve for a bit. This game is, in fact, an MMMPORG. This game was designed for large "armies" (zergs) to fight each other, siege, relic take, etc. The problem is that NF + useless incentives (20% was a lot at release, but with skill/templates, it's overcome) + clustering/realm swapping has basically nuetralized the basic concept of the game.
Stealthers in this thread saying they have no use. Well, hello to the stupid realm map. At release I was exclusively a soloer on my inf, but on relic raids, etc etc, I would actually scout and report to the chat group. A lot of us stealthers did, even the absolute "leetists". Stealthers would climb into keeps...count numbers...take out casters on walls, or if in defense, camp the climb points and fight enemy stealthers. A lot of stealther anguish isn't over mechanics..it's over the overall implementation of NF and what that did for rvr itself.
Folks are throwing out why other folks have cancelled and left the game. Well, the truth is, people leave all the time for different reasons. A lot of people left before assassins got dodge, etc, nerfed way back in the day. I personally know a lot that left when zerkers/shadowzerks were over the top, and on and on. There was a mass exodus over competent 8mans crushing zergs, too. And yes, soloers on a very high pop server tend to quit.
Mythic cannot cater to every playstyle. By trying to do so, they will alienate EVERYONE. (Although, some could argue they already have).
There is no way a company, even a bad one, is going to cater to soloers in an MMPORG. If they do so, they just alienate their much bigger subscriber base: The casual zergers that everyone and their mama complains about on these boards....
