Different engines will display the same graphics in a slightly different way. Different is not necessarily better, just somewhat different. Often different and new can seem to be an actual ‘update’ when it is just . . .different.

Also, they are not updating “everything”. Displaying the visual graphics in Crysis 2 does not mean the underlying wire frame of the game world still exists. You can’t just port DAoC over to Crysis and play DAoC. You would need to rework and test the underlying framework of the world.


On a similar note:
Many players seem to think that DAoC needs a graphics upgrade. The game of DAoC uses a modern game engine. Also, the graphics of DAoC are better than many other games. The graphics of DAoC is much better than the graphics of WoW, yet WoW has 10 million players. Improving DAoC’s graphics is not what will save the game and it is not what is necessary to push the game population into the millions (as shown by WoW).

Many in the frontiers would play wire frame graphics if they thought it would give them an advantage over the enemy (yes it is an overstatement, but somewhat true. Many do turn down their graphics settings in the Frontiers).



3D Engine is just small part compared to DAoC client, though it makes things look good, but it's not easy task to start building full new "client".
Anyway, as for returning .. I can't see it's happening, maybe if Mythic (or EA or Bioware) start doing again real active development and maybe even restore some content from OF times.
Though I don't expect this to happen

I agree,u don't need new pve,there are soooo many simple things they can do,they just don't care about there customers...imo...



I disagree... the heart of daoc has been some form of community. Yes, there are people who would love this, but pve is still integral for daoc's stability. The Dragon's Revenge was a pretty nice campaign and I wish they repeated events like these since expansions are probably out of the question. It gives a nice breather from rvr.

As far as them not caring about their customers, I also disagree. I think they really do try to listen and they have addressed some majors in the game... but when you have one hampster running the servers, a 12 year old kid running your website, and with relatively little other staff, it's hard to implement anything more than a pumpkin moon for halloween.

1- Lower Billing for Daoc ..

2- Lower Ressickness Timer on death for pvp (there can be still timer on getting low rps when you kill someone that has died recently.. ) but definetly lesser Ressick timer..

3- Make it faster for players to enter battle (such as lowering the time the boat gets to other realms)

4- Bring Realm bonuses back.. As hibs are low populated atm, playing hib shud get you earned more rps / xp / bp ...


I think thats all i want

Edit : I'd be more than happy if any 2 of them is done too..

i didn't vote because im a happy customer and can care less and will play until they pull the plug

QQ less adapt or don't log in, you not logging in prob speaks a lot more than this thread ever will, so until daoc isn't a profit for them, they don't have to change, and i don't mind that at all~

I wouldnt mind seeing a new progressive server from classic, and when ToA comes out...keep the arty changes and put in BP merchants after a few months. Then when other expansions come out...keep the BS classes out of the game: bain, warlock, and vampiir...I would add in animist but if current changes to shrooms pass over to the server, most people wouldnt play them anyways.
Then do a progressive RR rank cap again as well.
