it's been dieing for YEARS, it must be dead by now lol, specially when a Freeshard catches up in population, that speaks volumes. Funny part is known bugs that have been GLARING at Mythic for years don't exist on Shards.

So you're saying that there is no ghosting or flight jumping on freeshards?

Have you played DAoC in a while? The pop is just fine, zergy again for that matter. GW2 will not kill daoc. Ive moved to try other games like everyone else and im tired of moving. Im older now and used to this game, other games just dont interest me. AoC was the most fun i had moving but it turned me away with lack of quests at higher levels.

Population is quite fine on a Sunday afternoon on Ywain. 899alb, 961mid, and 803hib. Not sure how those numbers are not good for a 10 year old game. And no the freeshard HAS NOT caught up to the population on live servers. Try to base your numbers off of something more than what you think maybe.

Played that abortion of a freeshard server too and there are so many bugs right now it pales in comparison to live. Uthgard is terrible.

IMO people don't know how to make good MMO's these days, especially big MMO making companies.

What they know how to do is build up the hype and create graphical eye candy that you just can't deny. They still make their millions like this no problem.

Well not really, they know how to make MMOs that attract the most players, which for a profit making company is what they're aiming for :/

daoc appeals to a very niche set of players, like Semi said, it's the hardcore fans that are left, this game has been dead for years.

We won't see another like it because people don't want to pay for what daoc is. Lets face it, even the players that do play complain that it's not F2P and they still have to pay a subs for it..

yeah sure DAOC doesn't attract most people. They see the graphics and the combat system and they laugh. Then if they ever tried to play and got interrupted while casting they'd just leave. On the other hand, I'm certainly not a hardcore DAOC player, but I still stick around.

We PAY Mythic to fix crap like that "which they don't", Shards are free. Shards run better than live easily.

lolwut? It's an OK replacement, but to say it runs better than live is a joke.

dont get me wrong i loved daoc and its my favorite game of all time. But i do think GW2 will be better and take most the remaining daoc players because of one thing.......its offers a "new" version of what most people love about daoc and that 3 way open RVR.

Also not needing a buff bot or even a subscription for that matter. and i do like most the new ideas they are trying like no main healer class and the charaters having a personal story line like fable

Looks like GW2 is going to be a Spring 2012 release.
