i'm talking not so much about solo play when someone proc shears one of your buffs, but when a support class has 5 seconds without healing and completely strips you of your buffs, should be pretty devastating to you if your healers are busy, but not so much anymore.

Buff shears are dumb to begin with and should of never even been put in the game.

Nothing like finding a solo aug/cave shammy and start kicking his ass only to have him MoC buff shear everything off of you just before he dies.

Buffshears is a very good way to turn the tide in a battle. (groups/zergs)
Stop attacking shamans if you are so concerned about being sheared.

really I think what you said is a contradiction, in light of what I suggested. Buff shears are crappy because when you get sheared, then you quite often have to run or suicide all the way back to the portal keep. It's not getting sheared that sucks, its running back to the portal keep. And I just suggested an idea that could potentially get rid of this. Other than this I don't mind buff shears at all, they are an important part of clerics/druids/shamans role in a group, and it allows them to hinder an enemy greatly even though they really can't do much damage to them.

I agree. Giving field buffs to sheared group members was the lamest part of playing my cleric and druid. Giving members of a group the ability to quickly rebuff themselves with mediocre potion buffs should take a lot of the hassle out of it. Good change.

Buff shears are great if there's no buff bots

Cause they're only then useful in group fights

Anyways its a nice idea but the only great useability I can see from them is when you are high enough level to use them but sub level 35-40, then you can take them anywhere in PvE and not have to worry about going to a buff NPC

Why sub level 35-40? With the allowable buff bonus at level 39 (for instance), these things bring you within two points of buffbot grade buffs. At level 40, they should be no more than five points shy of bot-grade.

Which makes them a perfectly acceptable alternative to a bot for PvE up into the lower 40's, perhaps.

They're also slightly (one point) better than the buff-guy in Molvik (with the allowable +buff%), for those who like to minimax but don't like bots, or who just want to repair sheared buffs quickly without running back to CK/PK.

Note that minimum level for these is 30, which is about the point where the old buff-pots fell far enough behind bot-grade to start being noticable.

Perhaps buff shears shouldn't remove the buffs, they should suppress them for a given period of time. After that time, the buffs would be reinstated. This game is so dependent on buffs just for a character to stand a chance that no one is going to want to RvR without them, so it makes no sense to remove them permanently IMHO. A suppression of buffs that can't be removed until it expires though would be annoying, effective and less disruptive (although in most cases if you have no buffs, you are dead anyways).

Turn them into debuffs? Yes, please. They shouldn't have been introduced into the game (not long before NF went live) at all but I could live with this compromise.

Really. 118 points on str/dex/con, 71 on qui. As compared to 120 and 72 with capped bot buffs.
