this probably has to do with more changes thats supposed to reduce the lag. Last time they did that someone came out two weeks later saying all casting times had break points. Maybe they're simplifying formula's to make the servers run smoother, but perhaps its not a good idea to use rounding in a formula to determine run speed..

I'm surprised this is being brought up.
Neither of those statements are correct with Daoc. Maybe you should actually play the game instead of just commenting on things you know nothing about.
On day 1 you didn't zone to enter the rvr area. There was no pve speed difference. Out of combat vs in combat speed is the same as well. The only time you run faster out of combat is if your speed buff (bard speed/caster speed/etc - which only works out of combat) kicks in. They added a pve zone run speed increase a couple of years ago, no where near day 1.
The problem they are experiencing seems to be with lag. I believe there were some things changed to help with lag(ghosting, lag casting) in this patch which probably inadvertently causes this problem.

Dude while you are in the BGs or NF your travel speed is slower than it is in a PvE area.
When you are in combat your travel speed is slower also. This has always been.

No it hasn't always been. When Daoc launched PVE run speed and RvR run speed were the same. This was changed later, several years and several expansions later, although I'm not sure exactly when.
Anyway, stop trying to derail this thread. The problem since the patch is not about RvR/PVE run speed, nor in/out of combat speed. There's some other kind of bug at work, perhaps due to the 'fixes' for the lag problems or maybe something else.

Patch Notes posted:
RUN SPEED CHANGE
Since Dark Age of Camelot's launch, we have heard continuous feedback from our community about the movement speed in our game. The concerns over how slow our movement is has continued to grow as we have added more and more areas in which to travel. Because we believe these concerns are valid, we have decided to make a long requested change to the game, enhancing the movement speed of all players who are out of combat. This new run state allows the player to move faster than normal run speed, provided that the player is not in any form of combat. Along with this change, we have slightly increased the speed of all secondary speed buffs (see below for details). Both of these changes are noticeable but will not impinge upon the supremacy of the primary speed buffs available to the Bard, Skald and Minstrel.

Plz fix this run speed thing. For the third time this one guy has gotten away from me when there's absolutely no reason for it. I was sprinting and very close in range, he's doing the exact same thing, and somehow 500 units of range turns into 1500 range in about 20 seconds and I can't even cast on him. HOW ON EARTH can you be almost in melee range of someone and have them get away like that. And don't tell me its an actual run speed thing, we're both sprinting, were both in combat, and he's not using any special abilities.

Same thing is happening to me. It's like I'm lagging, but I'm not. My ping is normal and no packet loss. Running with my friend's Bard and my brother's Champion in Molvik, and I fall behind both of them when sprinting with speed or speed without sprint. Me and my brother share the same connection, and he has no problem keeping up with my friend. This just started after the recent patch.

This could be pure coincidence, but the second I loaded up my bot I started having this problem. I changed the dual logging deal so that its in sleep mode when in background only and not minimized and I have yet to have the problem since. Again maybe it's just only in certain situations but that worked for me. Also I have not had it happen chasing someone in rvr so I can't say much on that.
