Just before the hastener speed patch in Molvik a minstrel nearly kicked me out because they thought I didn't understand I had to drop hastener. I kept falling behind the group for no reason. Did not have hastener, was not encumbered, was sprinting on myth+pot, had speed, had the same group breath buff. He and his bud ran just a little faster for no real reason on land and in water.

Did we ever hear anything more on this? Did it go away for everyone?

hmm haven't seen any problems like this on Hib. Maybe they stealth nerfed Alb and Mid to discourage zerging?

That would actually be a good idea... the more people in the area the slower everyone moves. Its certainly more logical.

VERY logical.

EVE Online calls it Time Dilation. (EVE Dev Blog Explaination)You slow the whole game down evenly to a point the server can handle, instead of having everyone lag unevenly and making gameplay impossible or at least not fun.

Of course some people envision horror stories of everyone going to almost full stop, but if lag was that bad the server would have crashed or kicked you at that point anyway. More often it would just slow things down to a bearable degree.

Obviously EVE is a very different game and this is not proof it would work for DAoC on a technical level, but it's a good explanation of an idea that is very sound for any game if it's possible to implement or develop around.
