well I see your point but you don't want to really make it as easy as humanly possible do you?

Maybe they should just sell invig pots and speed gems in the BG's for bounty points or gold. They should only sell up to endo3 and it should be more expensive than what people sell for in housing, so that you don't ruin that market.

That's a great idea, and probably much easier to code.

Just add to the current Battleground BP vendors!

Great idea DkMLF!

There could be an NPC in every BG which gives you in one click full buffs, water breathing, speed 6, & a 1000% RP-bonus buff!

He's completely right. It's just another example of a "buff" that creates a barrier to playing.

Yes, all of us who have been around and figured it out and know to buy LW1, where to buy LW1 what realm abilities are and he mechanics of why it's important to do it yadda yadda yadda.

There's no reason that this game needs walking, running, and sprinting and god knows how many tiers of speed.

OK so this complete noob ports to a BG.
It doesn't matter if he has speed or not.
He's going to die, & die, & die, & die, & die ad infinitum
Simply because everyone else already knows how to play!

You miss the point. When he dies that's a reasonable result. His ENEMIES want to kill him and presumably know how to do it.

When he can't get a group because he is viewed as a nuisance to his REALM MATES because he doesn't have the ability to sprint then he can't go out and die and learn to play etc.

People constantly complain that they can't get groups. Stupid "buff" barriers are a reason why.

When you see people lfg..

Do you presume they come with a buffbot
or that they will want to run on 'field' buffs provided by the group you are making?
or that they will go unbuffed?
or expect you to buff them?
or use potions?
or realm buffs?

Do you presume they come with LW1 to sprint?
Do you presume that they are spec'd a certain way based on their class?
Do you presume they have voice chat?
etc. etc. etc.

None of these things even touch how well they play or if they have been playing 10 hours 10 days or 10 years or whether they will run out and die instantly or be the most skilled player ever. It's all a bunch of nonsense that precludes people playing the game.

I think (& I know everyone will disagree with me) that if you want to encourage noobs to stay in the game, you have to reward them with some kind of success in RvR.
Maybe the answer is to give RPs for simply being in an RvR zone.
Lets say you award 1RP per level per 15 minutes in an RvR zone.
At L24 in Thid an hour would bring you 4x24 RPs = 96 RPs an hour.
At L50 in NF an hour would bring you 4x50 RPs = 200 RPs an hour.
That's not going to create masses of instant RR13s, but it would encourage noobs to stay because at least they would be making progress.

What the hell???? The reward of playing games is fun.

They might win or might lose, while it's a factor it's not even close to the the important one.

The greatest single thing that an MMO can give a player access to is the fun of interacting with other players. But when it's more of a pain in the ass to group new people than it is to ignore, bash, shame or otherwise ridicule them you turn that great thing into the worst thing.

Regarding movement speeds in daoc the OP is right on track. We don't need walk, run, sprint and 2 dozen different movement speeds. We need to make it easier for groups to form up. Regardless of whether they are noob or vets.

An automatic group adding system would be nice to be honest. I know there is an LFG system but that is not the same.

They should have a system that auto adds group members if you flag for it. That group could then find a skald and boot the last person if needed. People are pretty lazy and /region spamming is pretty annoying to most.
