Economic crisis? For who? The remaining 1000 players left in the game that are all at or near the plat cap anyway?
Ive heard this garbage through out the years in DAoC. From the days when crafters were /salvaging high end items and selling the metal bars for uber gold gaining plats in minutes when it took everyone else days...to ToA when farmers was putting rare scrolls on the market at inflated prices, uber coin loot in RvR...etc..etc.
Its pretty plain and simple...there is not enough players left for their to be an economy anymore. PLUS Gold/Plat is worthless and has been ever since Glass, Scales and BPs can purchase all the gear and MLs you need for the only remaining aspect of the game, which is RvR.
Also if you want to get critical about it, you can actually thank EA-Mythic for the current market inflation for banning the macro farmers. With them around everything was in high supply and at low costs. Not cause the quest rewards gives high coins.

I was able to log on 8 accounts and do both toa and NF quests , i could do 5 turns per hour easily.
Let's do the maths
Accounts: 8
reward: 300glass 100scales 126g or something
8x5x100=4000 scales per hour
>> >> =12000 Glass per hour
>> >> =5Plats per hour
>> >> =10-15Plats per hour from pictish weapons

No, the problem is the money being generated with no significant way of getting it out of the system. Plat changing from players to players still leaves it in circulation. The ease of leveling now also means that everyone has many characters and suddenly wants to template them all with few people farming the high end mobs due to the banning of macro farm teams.

IMO inflation is only a problem when people need the money to eat. Not really an issue in daoc.
I honestly havent figured out why we like plats so much on this game. You can hardly do anything with them other than craft.
Plats are only a number. If it wasnt for housing no one would really care about plats and we would all trade item for item and say, "Im not trading that for 100p, what good would that do me?" In todays would it would be like selling your food for a million rocks. Why do you want rocks so bad?
As long as its just a number and everyone has the opportunity like you to get easy plat... why does the number matter all that much? I guess the 200p cap might be one reason.. but a minuscule one at that.

The prices of items are getting out of control and very likely people will have to start buying and selling mansion deeds again to break the 200p cap like back in 2006 when a mansion deed sold for 100p.
Why do I believe this is bad? Well, history lesson time...
When my country, Rhodesia, was lost on the negotiating table and ceased to exist, the new President for Life (it's Africa, this always happens) started working on getting rid of the capitalists (white people) and as most of us left, we took with us what made the country the envy of sub-saharan Africa: the bulk of the country's business and technological skills. The country, now named Zimbabwe, started its economic decline. The support the opposition parties had during the bush war from the Soviet Union and Chinese Communism was gone since the new government was so corrupt, the infrastructure failed from the beginning. The solution Mr. Robert Mugabe, the President for Life came up with was to print more money.
Print more money. It didn't matter that this money wasn't backed by anything. Good thing we left. Last I looked the natives had started printing "50 Trillion Zimbabwean Dollars" bills. People started a new urban art form where they'd paste currency on the walls of buildings in Harare (the ruins of Salisbury, where I was born) forming posters protesting the government.
Please Mythic: don't turn DAoC into Zimbabwe. Don't pull a Mugabe on us, I don't want to start carrying 50 trillion plat on my toon.
This is easy to fix, just drop the 60p you made on the ground and walk away. Also if you and your parents hadn't treated the black people of Rhodesia as second and third class citizens in their own country it never would have happened. White power much?

This would work if they raised the prices. The 30p price took into account the fact that they were initially not able to be traded, and that the durability lowers with repairs. Now that they can be traded, the price should increase, or it just encourages people to stock up and then gouge players that miss the events in a few months (i.e. Friar/Bard sleeves selling for 300p).
