(Posted here since I think Mythic doesn't read the Ywain board)

The ToA quests now give far too much plat. I made 60 plat between 9:45PM and 12:45AM.

The prices of items are getting out of control and very likely people will have to start buying and selling mansion deeds again to break the 200p cap like back in 2006 when a mansion deed sold for 100p.

Why do I believe this is bad? Well, history lesson time...

When my country, Rhodesia, was lost on the negotiating table and ceased to exist, the new President for Life (it's Africa, this always happens) started working on getting rid of the capitalists (white people) and as most of us left, we took with us what made the country the envy of sub-saharan Africa: the bulk of the country's business and technological skills. The country, now named Zimbabwe, started its economic decline. The support the opposition parties had during the bush war from the Soviet Union and Chinese Communism was gone since the new government was so corrupt, the infrastructure failed from the beginning. The solution Mr. Robert Mugabe, the President for Life came up with was to print more money.

Print more money. It didn't matter that this money wasn't backed by anything. Good thing we left. Last I looked the natives had started printing "50 Trillion Zimbabwean Dollars" bills. People started a new urban art form where they'd paste currency on the walls of buildings in Harare (the ruins of Salisbury, where I was born) forming posters protesting the government.

Please Mythic: don't turn DAoC into Zimbabwe. Don't pull a Mugabe on us, I don't want to start carrying 50 trillion plat on my toon.

You're crazy if you think that I'm trolling. This is a real problem. The game economy is in real danger and those quests are not helping. It's 2:48AM and I've made 82p. You know those annoying Chinese farmers that occasionally spam /region? The prices they quote in their spam has lowered. Why? Because plat is worth nothing now. Look at the rewards: 100 glass, 1 reforming energy, 226 gold. No one is doing anything anymore other than farming these ToA quests.

There was this one time that an alb wanted to be the first one to own a dragon polearm and he was willing to pay 500p for it, and he did. This was to be the first owner of something significant in the game. Well now it's routine to find items costing more than a player can carry (unless she buys and resells mansion deeds). I have over 100k glass that doesn't sell because the price of glass went down violently.

I'm honestly baffled at the shortsightedness of Mythic in creating this money mill. It needs to go. It doesn't solve any problems, it kills the game.

It's very simple...

Game is surviving off of its PvP not PvE

Those who want to PvE can still do so, SH and ML10 still sell really well

All these quests mean is that PvP people can get their CL XP + MLs quickly and easily without messing around.

The excess of gold you speak of just means that people can charge more for the Ml10/SH loot they're actually farming

That is why your "Econimical Crisis!!!!" is actually not a problem at all

so you did 3 hours of pve and made 60p ....

how did you do that? it means 20p per hour, which means you did 89 quests per hour... which means you did one quest in roughly 40 seconds...

consistently! not for an hour but for three...

so where you grouped? or did you do that solo or did you dual log?

because your numbers seem a little far fetched.

and besides: What corfel says. more mony in the market means higher prices on everthing that is limited.
expensive items get more expensive thats not a big deal.

people who invest time in pve can get these items others dont. the equation is still true...

I was grouped on my Skald for speed but had two bots sitting at giver. The result was 226 * 3 per turn in. That's just for my cut.

Three people were killing, five were bots.

If the intended reward of the quests is glass, energies, and (CL)xp, then the incidental reward of gold could stand to be lowered. It is pretty shortsighted that you can leave grouped inactive characters at the haven while a buffed caster solos gorgons and centaurs incredibly easily for extra gold on top of glass, energies, and xp. Plus many pve-ers will invite anyone and do not care if the extra people they invite do not contribute to the group while they just collect the quest rewards.

thought so... your numbers are not do able for a dual logger infact they are halved. Which means 10 plats per hour... not outstanding
10 plats per hour are easy achiveable with several other methods.

you base a "crisis" on triple accs logger mechanic...

thats just stupid

you should see that for yourself...

It's not a totally unreasonable post. What I see happening is that since plat is easy and almost everything is easily farmable, basically only ML10 and SH is now worth anything. So essentially all gear becomes worthless except ML10 and SH, and since plat is easy the prices on those explode. But because of the cap on plat, those prices can't go above the cap. I would expect pretty soon there will be three things on the merchant: tons of decent gear for nothing, crafted items that increase substantialy in price, and ML10 and SH gear that sells for near the plat cap.

Glass and energies are now worthless too, so scale prices probably are due to go up a lot unless people start running those quests more.
