The complexity built into different classes and realms in Daoc made the game impossible to balance. With races, traits and professions, there will be sufficient complexity to entertain, but not an inability to balance. Daoc still isn't balanced after a decade.

Your comment only means something if you look at it from a 1v1 perspective... but these games are meant to be played by a group and the balancing efforts that Mythic tried were always towards this goal.. they've never hidden this fact.

Ofcourse.. not that it matters what people say.. you've made up your mind about the evil empire called Mythic... then again... everybody is entitled to their opinion... even if it's a seriously jaded one... they really screwed you up for life!

balance gets even more difficult on a realm vs realm level, so my point stands. I've given mythic credit where it's due, lol. They just have done little right in the last few years, and the population is proof.

Yeah I totally agree. I mean it's not like they went through some of the toughest economic times, spending money on another game, been restaffed multiple times, lowered budget, sold to EA, merged with Bioware, and been given a back burner spot....oh wait...

Personally I have some faith with this current staff. They don't get everything right, but I can't expect them to. This isn't their child.

wow, let's blame the economy. oh wait, the decline started well before 2008!!!!

Hence why I stated money being spent on other games ~

but you said in the past few years. So I think 2008-2012 is sufficient to talk about.

Of course...who knows what you meant by "the past few years". Maybe you meant longer. If so you should have said so.

Not much good since 2003. One bad expansion after another, unfortunately.

Actually I rather liked Catacombs. Character models were pretty good imo for 2004. Darkness Rising introduced champion weapons...I like them, also CLs and mounts. Laby was a pretty big content update, I spent a lot of time down there just exploring.

I liked the new dragon quest lines they added since then, gave some old content a fresh look, and also slayer armor. Since then we've had a few live events, and while not anything amazing, still provided some content for PvE.

We also got these fancy new bg quests, nf quests, etc.

Dunno bout you but I liked all of these things.

Even more-so recently the patches have been pretty good. Yes they break things, I know that, but the actual content of the patches have been decent. But if you want to talk about that then we'd have to start in 2001, cuz no patch has never broken something.

I only liked the SI expansion. The others started the gear grab, huge raid and instance trends that I hated. To each his own, I guess.

no no, I hated those portions as well. Take the bad with the good though.

I would prefer to have 45+ different classes. Each side having it's own unique classes instead of blue team versus red team versus green team.3 way WoW style pukage.

Oh and btw any dev out there making a MMO with mirrored classes or instance profanity can gargle my nuts I am sick of this rehashed profanity.

Daoc devs get moaned for not having balanced classes between realms, GW2 devs getting moaned at because of perfectly balanced classes between realms "servers"

daoc devs had balanced realms, but not classes... this to me is okay, some dont think so, so they whine.

but just because the classes are the same on both sides does not mean there will be class balance...

you'll have some people that want to play a particular class, that will be underpowered... its guaranteed to exist.. and those people will cry and whine.

unless the game only has 1 class, 1 set of abilities... there will be inbalances people complain about.. you cant fix it.. you cant get around it.. no game with multiple classes or abilities trees can ever escape it.

I honestly never saw balance among the realms. the game careened from one opd realm to the next as people found the OPd combinations.

this is only true in small man/8man warfare, wich the game wasnt intended for, but when you get all the classes together (aka zerg) its balanced just fine...
