Why would anyone want a daoc mirror image? If gw2 was exactly like daoc that would be pointless. I think people are over analyzing gw2..I meam daoc is on the way out it can't run forever. So why not give another game a chance? Also I just don't see it why is alb vs hib vs mid such a big deal?

I don't think a realm creates rivalry but the players, like grr I hate xx player which u will still get with gw2.

Honestly we can't judge this game till we try it, I for one will be canceling my sub to daoc and trying out gw2.

If it crashes and burns then meh at least I gave it a go

It's still going to be like:

albs v albs v albs

hibs v hibs v hibs

mids v mids v mids

And it does not equal:

albs v hibs v mids

I'm not pumped at all.

its pretty simple to achive something "close" to it.
if they code in some sort of Server-Emblems and Colors which you will carry into battle. The server itself will take pride in beeing that server with the crimson lion on golden ground... or whatever...
there are ton of things taht you can introduce to create an feeling of server pride. visual things is just one of it - and they will have to do soemthing to determin freind or foe on the battlefield.

look at any sports teams... they all wear the same gear and pretty much look the same except for their team colors. peer group mechanics are the same everywhere

DAOC has the diffrent storyline background which makes it a lot simpler and instantly visable. Other than that how would you even know if alb/mid/hib where in diffrent servers... which due to ywain each realm acutally is in certain zone already.

imagine the old servers. i always wanted to fight alb groups as an alb group just to see who is better. challenging a server/enemy that wont come around that often is even better...

and for all who are not conviced...

German_server_x vs. UK_Server_y

US_Server_X vs. Mexico_Server_y

i am pretty sure that this can work well, GW2 will have to work a little harder to make destinction between servers visable ingame.

I would prefer to have 45+ different classes. Each side having it's own unique classes instead of blue team versus red team versus green team.3 way WoW style pukage.

Oh and btw any dev out there making a MMO with mirrored classes or instance profanity can gargle my nuts I am sick of this rehashed profanity.

we are on the same page although i try to keep my nuts away from mmo devs.

all i am saying is that you might be surprised if you find yourself drawn to that mechanic. its far better than anything else out there.
GW2 does not appeal to me yet because what i saw feels a lot like disco night hack and slay.

DAoC Carebear PvP'rs can't compete on a level playing field, and normally end up with their face in the dirt wailing and gnashing their teeth.

Their consistent fail and lack of skill was hilarious to watch in the first GW.

They will hate it, as mommy won't be able to hold their hand and dress them in overpowered gear.

PS. The vast majority of original DAoC players, will love it.

The complexity built into different classes and realms in Daoc made the game impossible to balance. With races, traits and professions, there will be sufficient complexity to entertain, but not an inability to balance. Daoc still isn't balanced after a decade.

Your comment only means something if you look at it from a 1v1 perspective... but these games are meant to be played by a group and the balancing efforts that Mythic tried were always towards this goal.. they've never hidden this fact.

Ofcourse.. not that it matters what people say.. you've made up your mind about the evil empire called Mythic... then again... everybody is entitled to their opinion... even if it's a seriously jaded one... they really screwed you up for life!

From the first paragraph:

So… wow. After all this time, we finally have some solid concrete details on just what World vs. World (WvW) will entail in Guild Wars 2. We’ve digested the info that Mike Ferguson gave us in his blog post, ruminated on it a bit, and are ready to share with your our initial thoughts on just what awaits us in the Mists when GW2 launches later this year. With servers being matched up in battle every two weeks, and the warfront constantly raging day and night during the battle, it’s safe to say that PVP-ers will have a lot to do in GW2. In short, if you don’t fancy reading: Dark Age of Camelot fans are going to love this system.

I'm pumped.

I know I'll be playing GW2 only because its F2P. Other than that it will be to past the time until they evolve DAOC further.

you could say...grr I hate player x! But then shortly it will be player y, then z. Because chances are you wont see them until your servers are next matched.

People will no doubt enjoy GW2. I just won't be one of them.

People say to give MMOs a try...well...I have. I have tried Aion...Rift...AoC...SWTOR...LOTRO...many others, and daoc always brings me back. And I have tried those games with my MMO friends, we all go and try out new MMOs because they have some feature of daoc, or might have something better.

Aion had excellent character customization, Rift had a fresh idea for PvE, SWTOR had a story (which I enjoyed SWTOR and still think its a great game but I don't really like sci-fi genre for MMOs) LOTRO was f2p but I still subbed, I really enjoyed a lot of aspects in this game. THe music making was by far my favorite.

Nothing ever seems to 'do it' for me outside of daoc. I will no doubt end up giving GW2 a try at some point, but it won't be at release, it'll more than likely be 3 months after when people get a full aspect of the game and can tell me about it.

Until then Im done buying stuff based on Hype, cuz I never stay.
