And WoW is balanced? Lulz
DAoC may have its problems, but it is a very well balanced game. And I would part the imbalanced parts of the game solely on mythic's inadequate view, with extreme lack of testing and resources.
Even in the perfect scenario, where you have like 5 classes for a game, billions of generated revenue, code monkies at your disposal, and thousands of testers, you still end up with imbalanced stuff making it into the game.
In fact, I would much rather play a game with a lot more uniqueness and include imbalances than I would where I have to choose from 5 classes and be perfectly balanced.I would also like to take up arms against an enemy that I can distinguish, and not be killing my fellow races. DAoC isn't necessarily excessively unique when it comes to classes, as most spells are in all 3 realms, with a different spin on them. But bravo to them for spreading these out and making unique classes that won't be the same on all sides.
But to each his own.
Lol, WOW has 2 factions and isn't a pvp game, lol.

It has 2 faction with the same classes, and while it's not a pvp game it still has pvp.
Point to me where a pvp game is perfectly balanced...you won't find one. Actually point me to a game that has the same class diversity found on DAoC with 3 realms that is just as balanced as DAoC.

WOW was never designed to be a pvp game. Daoc and Lolhammer were overly complex and impossible to balance, that's my point. Daoc was a great game, and if the mythic clowns hadn't added all the expansion classes and toa garbage, perhaps it could have been balanced. eve was balanced. Gw1 was balanced. Gw2 will be balanced.

LoL, balance.
Even games with two factions and the same classes are not "balanced". There are always classes that are far, far beyond others.
Just how she goes.

And thats my point. I'd rather have diversity than be limited to a minuscule amount of classes. And I doubt it ever could have been balanced. Most groups still consist of oldest classes.
and lulz that GW2 will be balanced.

And it does not equal:

I've been saying this since people heard about the 3 way pvp and got boners. Nothing does or will ever compare to RvR
The complexity built into different classes and realms in Daoc made the game impossible to balance. With races, traits and professions, there will be sufficient complexity to entertain, but not an inability to balance. Daoc still isn't balanced after a decade.
PvP in any non-trivial game will never, ever be balanced. Ever. Don't delude yourself, there will be gimp classes and op classes regardless of how much mirroring they do.
