this is very interesting. If the results are accurate and can be easily replicated and confirmed for bigger sample sizes, and the test isn't flawed due to some lag problem, then I think the big question is, how did someone not figure this out before? Or is it that Mythic made some small change to the code without telling anyone?

They probably didn't mean to change it, but it rather just happened when they changed a typo in a quest or something...

Can someone explain to me what I should be taking from this data? I am very confused. Does each spell haves its own perfect Dex cap? I liked when Dex cap was 386

Upon further reflection, I'd guess that this is a new thing, not a previously unnoticed old thing.

Specifically, I'd guess that when they tweaked Ywain to handle 4000+ people, they did so by tweaking the tick length - a longer tick would reduce load on the server. And a longer tick would produce grainier results in what are supposed to be continuous functions.

go test it out yourself before making useless comments with nothing to back them up.

AngharadMacsen, that sounds like it might be a reasonable solution. Certainly having the computer do much less and much easier computations might help put up a bigger population cap, and in return we would see numbers being more approximated rather than fully accurate...

That could be it.

There are some people working on a new formula over at the ywain boards btw, lets hope they come up with something to make sense of all this
