Cross-posted from the Ywain boards (sorry about that) but i think it's worthy of being posted here too as a lot of people don't read both boards.

I originally made this test to show that 386 dex didn't cap 2.8s spells. I didn't at all expect what i found though, so i continued my testing.

Method:
I clocked the time it takes to cast 100 spells and that's pretty much it. I started by putting all points in dex at creation, get aug dex 5 etc to see what i got with the highst possible dex, then i removed items and clocked a new time. If the new time was different from the first one, i adjusted items, starting points and RAs and tested a number between the two. I then repeated this untill i found the "breaking point.

Not all tests were done with 100 casts as i didn't have enough power. The spreadheal (3.5s) for example was tested with 25 casts and then multiplied by 4.

Result:
1) There are "breaking points" where your cast speed gets significantly faster.
2) Anything in between these breaking points gives very little or no return.
3) Maybe someone will, but i fail to see a pattern in these breaking points.
4) The breaking points seem to aply to all spells with the same cast time, but i have not and am not going to test it for all spells.

I HAD 10% CAST SPEED DURING THE WHOLE TEST

Breaking points:
2.0s ---> 392 dex, 344 dex, 337 dex
2.1s ---> 356 dex, 354 dex, 308 dex
2.2s ---> 374 dex, 368 dex, 320 dex
2.3s ---> 386 dex, 380 dex, 332 dex
2.4s ---> 392 dex, 350 dex, 307 dex
2.5s ---> 362 dex, 319 dex
2.6s ---> 374 dex, 332 dex
2.7s ---> 386 dex, 344 dex
2.8s ---> 392 dex, 356 dex, 320 dex
2.9s ---> 368 dex, 362 dex, 332 dex
3.0s ---> 374 dex, 338 dex

Great post, to bad it is a pile of fail.

The reduction is % based, so it would be the same dex on all spells to reach cap.

?

Please prove me wrong. I clocked every single one of these values my self. The reduction might be % based but there sure is some kind of rounding or something in there, as this isn't a linear curve at all.

Go back and read some 5-6y old data, and from what i know they never changed the casting mechanics from back then. Also your sample is WAY to small to make it a "this is how it is, now make it your bible!"

This alone should tell you that your test is flawed, how can the cast time go UP with MORE dex?

Well, the numbers don't lie.

They do with that small of a sample size and your normal lag. And this

Not all tests were done with 100 casts as i didn't have enough power. The spreadheal (3.5s) for example was tested with 25 casts and then multiplied by 4.

So you are telling a guy with current and up to date raw data to go back and compare it to 6 years ago. What a joke.
Maybe he should go back and read about Left Axe mechanics pre-1.62.

He asked you to prove where he is wrong, so your argument should start there. It sounds clear though that you have no clue what you are talking about.

The breaking points are so clear that it can't possibly be lag.

i can go and make a melee swing data and conclude that i do hit faster than 1.5s after 10 hits. would you accept it as the truth after seeing data from years ago and the samples where in the thousands and tens of thousands samples? No you would not, nothing have chnaged from back then in the caster coding or the melee coding.

Ive already told him where he is wrong.

I dont have to ive seen real samples and testing before, i am happy if ppl go for this and RA spec for more dex as it makes them less deadlier.
