I'll actually defend Meddyck here and say he definitely didn't have a good 8v8 setup. Especially against the old 4 or 5 naturalists groups. I ran those and if you lost with that type of setup you definitely should quit the game.

I actually retired my Skald after they put in that panzy sparkly feet bull. It was majorly lame running around the frontier and sparkling like that. I also got fed up having bards outrun me since they could restore end, and minstrels SoSing away. Was pretty pointless that I had speed 5 and sacrified all the utility for slightly "better" melee when the other realm's better utility speed classes pretty much meant they could run away from my "better" melee whenever they felt like it or thought they may be losing. I had some great duo gorge runs with Aakoir (original one) way back in the day. Skald + Thane was actually a really good combo.

I agree actually, I always saw Medd and Unity groups with various make up. I don't think this was ever the lame part of Medd, it was always his exaggerations, one sided view of the game, relentless focus on beating the severely underpopulated realm, and constant hypocritical posts that made him less than endearing.

5-6 naturalists? are you serious? To be honest we were better off running a 3 naturalist group, a bard and two druids...maybe 2 bards and two druids at the most, but other realms had much better interupting power and more tools to shut down the other group (mids especially, there is not a better support combo in the game than healer+shammy, and yes, hibs had an advantage over albs up until the point sorcs got bolt range mez and actually started running theurgs in groups, which was rare back then), so it was better to run 4-5 tanks (maybe 4 tanks 1 caster) and just frontload the damage and kill the opponent before they had a chance to play the interupt game. Because 9 times out of 10, 5-6 naturalist group will lose to good mid support. 3 forms of cc on a single toon, and a support toon with ae disease and ae root and endless endurance...up close and personal, there's no beating that. The only group that has a better chance to win against that is a sorc/theurg setup...and only because they can do the interupting from an absurd distance (spam pets ftw!)

I remember that, we had 9 or 10 people. I died fairly quickly the first fight but managed to kill somebody first, second fight I killed teh same guy again and ran around with GK on my butt for quite some time. I think i got off a qc root or two to prolong the inevitable but eventually ran out of end and he caught up to me
