To digress slightly from the subject at hand...

MT_Gouru: "It also does not show current memloc status."

What is the current memloc status, if I might ask?

"why don't you ask Turbine what their Official Stance is on the subject? I'm absolutely positive they'll say DECAL kept this game alive."

- hilarious

The reason it's funny is because there are actually quite a few developers at Turbine that rabidly hate the hacking. Sure there are actually some that like it (mostly the ex-VB hackers themselves), but don't think it's a majority.

Even ask the Decal team, because they know 100% what I'm talking about and wouldn't dare make a stupid quote like the above.

the numbers don't lie man, whatever you want to believe. The numbers speak for themselves.

Imperil: you're still doing it.

Stop calling the Plugins and Plugin Devs as Decal and Decal Devs...

we are TOTALLY separate things. Sure some of the Decal Devs are also Plugin Devs, but they are not the same thing. A Plugin is an application which "Plugs In" to Decal which is the API framework. Decal only exposes certain aspects of the AC Client and Network. It also renders onscreen to make things easier.

Sounds to me like you're complaining about the Plugin-Devs and how some of them cannot code. But don't start claiming anything for the Decal Devs (Decal Core). ALL of the developers of Decal are very good programmers. A few of them do programming professionally in some aspect.

Once again.. start replacing the word "Decal" with the word "Plugin" as you as bashing people. At least you'd be slightly more accurate.

- Oh I totally believe you, numbers and stats are the only thing to base something on. Which is why the population graph shows why after a month or so after a certain macro plugin became massively used and widespread the games population went on an almost 90 degree downards line.

Which AC devs have YOU been talking to, because I'd sure love to talk to them about their position on Decal... on the contrary, I actually HAVE talked to the AC Devs about their position on Decal. While it isn't my place to discuss it, lets just say that I'd be VERY interested to see who you have been talking to.

"ALL of the developers of Decal are very good programmers. A few of them do programming professionally in some aspect. "

- Which is why in my post I said that I do respect the core developers. I mean I have went through the whole source and wrote specific plugins for myself and friends waaaaay back in the day.. and yes I do realize that I myself contributed to ruining the game, even though it was on a small scale.

Unfortunately you can't seperate Decal from the plugins. You know yourself Drakier that without real developers writing the core decal framework the majority of these VB hackers couldn't have botched the game this bad.

- Well ok they aren't AC developers, my bad, they are now onto the new projects. I should make myself more clear next time and I apologize. Come to the austin games conference in a couple months and you can personally find out.

I'm still not aware of any of the Turbine developers who are Rabidly against Decal. In fact.. I think at the WORST, they are merely impartial to it.
