Personally, I RARELY run in windowed mode.


Maybe it's me, but it seems to create more lag, and I'd just rather have 100% of my screen for looking at the game. Rarely do I use it, and mainly just to look up a quest or if I am macroing, troll the boards.

I think they're holding out for a certain level of functionality before they release decal for ToD. While they could probably get decal going quickly by avoiding rendering issues, that would break almost every single plugin. And since they're planning on eventually releasing a decal that can render on the screen, why make all plugin devs rewrite their plugins for a temporary fix, only to have rendering a few weeks down the road?

I am not saying that as a final option, but as a temporary stop-gap. It would be rather easy to alt-enter, interact with decal, alt-enter, go about your business for the fullscreeners until a better tranparent 3d solution.

We are currently looking at the possibility of a no-graphics release which would allow chat line control and display while we work on graphics. Major downside to this is there are VERY few plugins without graphics. Upside is that plugin developers could start verifying the program logic and calls of their plugins.


Beyond that point there are different graphics paths we can look at. External graphics is not a path we'll follow, the no-graphics release would handle that.


Depending on how we decide to proceed with graphics HUD displays may either be the first or last to show up after the no-graphics release.

I'd be very much in favor of that. Several of my plugins could be converted to have at least partial functionality.


More importantly, I could get a start on the update work that'll eventually be needed anyway.

That is awesome Gouru! The functionality is all anyone really needs right now anyhow. That would mean what? Editing XML or config files out of game and running say a buff program via a command line? If that is the case, then sweet! Einstien, stoic, even BS/2 could still function then, right? Who needs the hud anyways, lol...

I can deal with no graphics display release very happily, so long as I don't have to *remove* the GUI event handler code and such from the program. i.e. Robochef and LootTracker both have a lot of options and selections and I'd hate to have to disconnect them all. Its fine if they simply dont get called and don't get displayed(robochef already has chatline command capability, loottracker...well, lets not go there), but if every developer has to gut their plugin for no-display, that wouldnt be so hot.


So basically, I'm all for a release that lets me start dealing with the vast sweeping changes that loottracker is gonna need. Robo should work fine without display, but users are gonna have to learn the text commands (I'm sure MakeIt is in the same boat there). Navi III...well thats kind of pointless without a display, but I'm not even working on that yet.

I'd support a no graphics mode UST... especially if I could leave in the graphics event handling as dead code.

Yeah, UST would rock. Set it up outside the game as far as what you want to combine with, then just issue a command to do it.
