Actually when someone suggested what seemed like a simple and inexpensive solution of buying a $30 monitor, your answer was rude.

He was just trying to help.

What happens when you lose health? Are you able to see that? Black health doesn't seem that bad considering you couldn't change it to red anyway.

Black health on black background means all I can see are the numbers.

when the bar moves down, as your hp goes down, are you able to see it move?

when you click on it and it changes a tad, numbers added or removed inside hte bar, does that have any affect?

will turning up the brightness help any at all ?

Have a look in Control Panel -> Display, Settings tab, Advanced. Not all graphics cards are the same, but on most you can adjust the contrast, brightness etc. of red/green/blue separately. I can't test what would be effective without a broken monitor, but if you try adjusting the settings for red, you might be able to make it visible enough to use.

If you can find a red on black image to have on display while you're adjusting it, you can see what'll work without switching in & out of AC.

His problem is that the red gun in his CRT is worn out. He could open it up and adjust it a little (if he knew what he was doing). But when the red gun goes you can't see any red.

Afraid your best fix is to wait till you have the cash to replace it .

Elgar, I can solder a new plug, but thats about it. I doubt I could fix the problem you described, although I understand what the problem is. But thank you for the suggestion.

Chazcon, I have the same right to come to these boards you have. I wanted to play AC, I had a question about AC plugins, thats it. I came to the right place. But it's nice to see that instead of addressing my arguement you would dwelve into personal attacks, yes, much more mature.

As for your entirely pointless rant about me acting like a brilliant programmer, get a grip. BMPSwap is an incredible simple tool and by what I saw from the (four pages) of source and heard in #acdev, the changes needed are absolutely minimal. The solution for the fix is already been coded in whatshisnames DatUtils, so it's not like much ingenuity or knowledge would be required. Just because you don't know how to program (I'm just assuming, since you seem to think every small change requires brilliant talent and weeks of work) doesn't mean nobody does. How you come up with lines like "And somehow feel that there was some interest in "the community" for YOU to fix it?" is beyond me, as I never said or implied anything even remotely close or related to that.

Quite frankly, your 'replies' read as if you saw an extra row of lines in all of my posts that nobody else does. You imply that I said all kinds of things which I never said nor suggested, as is seen perfectly in your above reply. I don't know what all of that is about, nor do I much care, but its ironic that you of all people would tell me to search for mental healthcare. Oh well, curse of VN I suppose.

From what I've heard playing inside a CRT monitor can be fairly dangerous as there's usually a big capacitier inside that could either give you a bad shock or even potentially kill you.

If your monitor is missing the red gun it's probably impacting more than your back for one month AC play, spending a small amount of time to see if anyone was replacing/dumping a working monitor doesn't sound unreasonable to me, although I don't know if that happens in europe as much.
