Calm down man. I never said I had any extra money to give out. I made a suggestion, a straight forward and honest suggestion. $30 is not a lot, just put away your change every night in a jar or something.

Actually if you don't require a 'new' monitor just a working one, try looking at the craigslist for your area, or any of the other 'free' advertising lists for someone getting rid of a old monitor. It's the best way to recycle an old working CRT, give it away :^) Worth a shot.

1) You have a broken monitor.


2) You came to the Utility boards asking for a plugin that will change the color of your health bar, because you can't see it, because your monitor is broken.


3) Go buy a new monitor ferchrissake's!


4) Oh - you are destitute, you can't afford a new monitor, which you could buy new for 50 bucks or used at a garage sale for 10 - but somehow can afford the time & money to play Asheron's Call.

Twist, the reason you're getting such unpleasant replies is as follows:


1) There has been little demand for an updated bmpswap utility (the program that allowed for skins), so while I suspect (and hope) one will eventually come out, it's not going to happen any time soon.


2) Writing anything (new bmpswap, plugin for an overlay, etc) to give you a work around for your problem would take a fair amount of time and effort.


3) People write utilities for AC with the intent that they will be used on correctly functioning pcs. No one writes a utility for a broken pc.


4) Repairing your pc would not take an extraordinary feat of effort on your part. You could make the money needed for a new monitor by mowing your neighbor's lawn a few times. You clearly have the pricier elements of a pc needed to run AC (DX9 compliant video card, sufficient ram and HD space, etc); it just doesn't make sense to keep driving a BMW with a cracked windshield and then complain that its hard to see.


Conclusion: since YOU are unwilling to take the fairly simple steps required to repair your pc, it is highly unlikely that someone in the decal community is going to put in the hours of work required to write a workaround for you. It isn't like you need a plugin to help you with a handicap or some other such meritous condition; you need a plugin to deal with a problem you yourself are unwilling to correct.


No one is going to help you; you may as well just let this topic die.

I don't know how you people managed to twist your reality to where I ask for someone to write me a tool, but maybe you should read my initial post again. I'll paste it for you here:

Care to point out where I'm even remotely asking for someone to write me a plugin ?


Now, to adress some specific points:


I have neither time, money nor interest to play AC. I wanted to log on, solo AE or something and then forget about AC again for another year. How someone would twist "I haven't played AC for years and I'm don't have a subscription" into "I have the time and money to play AC" is beyond me. I'm looking at you, Chazcon.


My 'attitude' is asking if there was still a way to use skins or change colors in AC. On a utilities board, I don't think it's entirely unreasonable to ask for AC utilities. My attitude didn't become anything but polite until AFTER people started to rip on me for being an idiot, being cheap, having a crap job, etc. My thread isn't 'lame', its a thread asking if there is a utility on the utilities board. Again, perfectly reasonable.


As for the bmpswap, I have considered fixing it, after someone was friendly enough to tell me what bmpswap *IS* instead of insulting me. It seems to be a really minor problem and shouldn't take longer than an hour. However, half a day of following this thread has made me seriously reconsider this. I already got my AC fill by playing without a visible health bar (the numbers still show and my char is high enough to manage, even though it's not much fun), and quite frankly, the community apparently turned into a bunch of jackasses while I wasn't looking, so my desire to do anything for you is less than zero.


Again, I didn't ask for someone to write me a plugin for my specific needs. I still don't get what on gods earth would make you think that.


As for your last point, you have no idea wether or not it would be 'easy' for me to get that money. Mowing lawns might sound easy for a spoiled kid living in mom's basement, but the world isn't all flowers and milkshakes everywhere.
