What personal information would I be giving away exactly? I don't use the computer for personal stuff just gaming and none of my passwords or login information aren't typed in. And unless I'm missing something here nothing came up on virus checks and no information is being sent from my comp to an outside network w/ out my personal. So I'd say the program is pretty safe, but who knows I can always be proven wrong.

The files have been proven to be infected. I haven't looked into exactly what the viruses are designed to do, so they could do little harm. I wouldn't use them either way.

Was it proven? I don't mess with or intend to mess with the program but i thought several people have done scans and they came up clean. Keep in mind just because 1 program says there is a virus it doesn't mean there is one. I have several utilities I use at my repair shop that often get picked up as viruses but aren't. False positives are known to happen.

Keep in mind I don't trust the guy myself. My characters and gear are too important to risk. I just don't want the virus issue to become inaccurate.

It wasn't proven. As the poster above you stated it might of been a negative positive type of thing. Even with that said the first person who did the scan showed trojans, now I scanned it with the same site he used and it came out clean and i used a few other scans and it came out clean. So what I'm trying to see is that why the first person who scanned had a virus/trojan and these are clean?

But as I said before scans aren't 100% accurate, so I'll wait and see if someone goes through the files and see what theyh come up with.

In one of the first post someone posted a link to totalvirus. That is a site that scans a file with multiple virus engines. That found several viruses in the files. I also used it to test the other files that portal was distrubing and they were also infected. I tested totalvirus with several files that I knew were clean and it did not find any viruses, so I believe the results they are giving. Also, total virus shows exactly where the virus was injected at.

Saloben, was the site that is listed here (http://asheron.wikia.com/wiki/Plugins) the same address?
I did test the portalspace software from the link there and my scanner along with the massive scanner couldn't find any trace of a virus.

In anycase if the software's just straight copies of other programs out there trying to be passed of as there own they can just take a leap off a tall mountian. Im not going to install em and find out thought at this point
