I installed tings 1.0.0.280 today as this system didn't have it already installed.
Win 7 x64 using Decal 2.9.6.0

What is a firebird server and why is accompanion complaining about not finding it?

I've never tried to play with Tings inventory stuff before but find I wish to now but this firebird server thing is interfering with doing so. It this going to be a separate install or is it something that got left out of .280 that was previously in .265?

My past usage has been for crafting and I'd enable as required to make stuff but I try and run less plug-ins rather than more...

Open AC Companion.rtf file where you installed Tings.

Excerpt from this document is shown below.

Installation

1. Download Tings MSI from the web site.
http://www.rangersrus.net/
You should find Tings on the left side of screen under Resource Sites.

2. If you do not have Firebird server installed on any PC in your local LAN then below will help you install it.

Note: You only need to install Firebird server on one pc on your local LAN. So if you have multiple PC then
you may want to choose the PC that is always on when you play AC.

You can get the Firebird installer from
http://www.firebirdsql.org/index.php?op=files&id=engine_250

Uses either

Firebird-2.5.0.26074_1_Win32.exe

Firebird-2.5.0.26074_1_x64.exe

Run the firebird install and basically accept the defaults.
I typically choose 'Classic' but you may want "Super Server".

3. Run Tings installer on the PC that you installed Firebird on.
Vista/Win7 users will need to set AC Companion to run as Administrator. One way to do this is to right click on the AC Companion shortcut( on your desktop) select the compatibility tab. Select "Run as Administrator".

4. Once Tings is installed start ACCompanion (There should be a Desktop Icon for it).

5. ACCompanion should start up. If not you probably did not set Run as Administrator. If that does not help
read step 7 and see if the path is correct for your installation.

6. Run Tings installer on any other PC you play on. You may have to uninstall prior version of Tings.
Vista/Win7 users will need to set AC Companion to run as Administrator. One way to do this is to right click on the AC Companion shortcut( on your desktop) select the compatibility tab. Select "Run as Administrator".

7. If there is a connection issue then ACCompanion will open the Configurations->Server Setup tab and allow
you to set the Firebird Connection Path. If this is the PC you installed Firebird on then make note of the IP address on this screen, as this is the IP address of the server
which you will need in order to install on other PCs.

You will need to edit the Firebird Connection Path and press the set button.

The Firebird Connection Path consists of 'Serverath'. If on same box as firebird server then use 'localhost'
otherwise use the IP address of PC that has firebird installed
The path is the file path to where the database file is stored on the PC that is running firebird server.

Example: ACCompanion installed on PC where firebird is installed. When I installed Tings
I installed into "C:\Install\ACDecal\Tings" directory, so my Firebird Connection Path is the following.

localhost:C:\Install\ACDecal\Tings\AsheronCall.FDB

I make note of IP on this PC as it is where Firebird is installed( 192.168.0.188).

Example: I install Tings on different PC that does not have Firebird installed.
I set the Firebird Connection Path to the following and press set.
192.168.0.188:C:\Install\ACDecal\Tings\AsheronCall.FDB

You may find that connecting to PC where Firebird server is running does not work. Check Firewall settings on the PC that has Firebird Server.

8. In order for ACCompanion to have any data you will need to get IG on toons and do a Full inventory scan.
So Get IG and click on Full Button shown below.

The following is what I never saw mentioned anywhere unless I missed a readme file someplace....
Any idea as to what the difference between classic and super server is?

Ok, I must be cursed, braindead or something.

I've DL'd and installed the Firebird server, started the service.
I've started AC companion and ensured that it's connected to the Firebird on the 'config' tab(this is before starting AC per the accompanion.rtf).
I've installed tings 1.0.0.280 and it shows up ingame.
I've gone to the inventory tab, then the options tab, I've hit 'Full' button I've waited for it to count down from the 178 item total on this toon, 200+ on another.
I get nothing on the in-game screens and nothing in AC Companion. I doesn't let me select a server on the inventory tab and the other tab other than 'Config' tell me I need to "select a server" before doing anything else.

I've installed it into the default locations the installer wanted as trying otherwise didn't get me even this far.

It's like the in-game part isn't sending the data over or something....
I have seen the difference in the in-game plug-in when ACCompanion is running and when it's not.

Maglett_of_FF,
It does sound like its not communicating.
Quick way to check is to look at Inventory Tab and midway on the right
is 'Activity:'. It should show you the IG toon name if it is communicating.
So get in game then look at 'Activity:' and see if that is working or not.

You should be able to install Tings into your specified directory i.e. C:\games\Tings.

Only thing I'm aware of with this type of issue is that your on windows 7 and
you are running into an "administrative rights" issues. If you install into C:\games\Tings directory
you should not run into this issue.

I suggest checking 'Activity:' first. If there is no activity then
uninstall Tings and reinstall into c:\games\Tings directory.

Let me know if this gets you going or not.

Drids_Ghost,
Its in my notes to see about doing a floating text box
showing damage, evades, resists.

No ETA on this.

Awesome Mr Flipo! Did you see the example in the video I posted?

http://tinypic.com/r/sqoyt0/7

Its not a text box, but the messages themselves floating over the target you are attacking, or yourself.

Hazridi's exception plugin is what was used im pretty sure.

Here is an old excerpt from an acvault article

Thanks again for your excellent work!

I have the same problem as Maglett. I have installed Tings in the directory you suggested but there is still no activity detected.
