Ideology is not reality.
To make good policy, one must consider all ideologies and decide which best solves the reality of the situation. Ideology is afterall, JUST AN IDEA.

If you salt and pepper my food after I've prepared it then either I have failed or you have a mallet for a mouth.

Nope, I season it while I'm cooking it. Nothing pisses me off more than cooking a meal for someone only to watch them load it with salt and/ or pepper before they've even taken a bite.

It honestly depends on the dish.
Some things I make at home unseasoned or mostly so, because each of us likes it seasoned a different way. Some things I like just salt with, some with just pepper, some with a little of both.
And I NEVER season a dish on my plate without tasting it first, whether at my house or someone else's!
Aer, my husband is one of those people with only two tastebuds left to his name...and one of them is dying He likes his food FAR more seasoned than nearly anyone I meet, and "subtle" flavors are completely lost on him. To him if it's "subtle" it's bland and tasteless. It's probably because his allergies have effed up his sense of smell and taste for so long.

I will salt/pepper to taste AFTER I have tasted it... I hate ppl who salt stuff before they even taste it. My BIL used to do that, so I made something WAY too salty on purpose...hahaha, he gagged after he salted it.

I hate it when people are offended when you salt their food after you've tasted it.
My enjoyment of things being slightly saltier is just as valid as your preference that it be less salty than I like it.
Edit: I even salt things prior to tasting if I know I enjoy it with salt and that it doesn't traditionally contain much. Examples: Pizza, Mac + Cheese, stuffing, spaghetti
