Haven't seen either movie, but just finished the book. The story was great, the translation into English for the book was a little lacking. Frequently I felt like I was reading a news report of the action, it was all very impersonally written. I think some elements were lost in translation.

Super long, often dry and boring. A lot could have been cut out. Was ok.

This is also why I rather watch BBC original programming instead of the US butchered version for most TV shows. Now if only they would quit spamming Top Gear on BBCA, I might be quite content.

i've really turned into an original snob ever since i got into anime. i don't want to watch a remake of anything from another country. esp not if the original is like 1 year old.

do you ever think that somewhere in the world there are little asian kids refusing to watch remakes of american movies?
like that mel gibson movie what women want really needed to be remade in korean
it's also pretty dumb that hollywood isn't taking any risks with releasing original movies, everything is remade or tailored to suit a safe bet so that they make a profit. i think something like 96% of the movies released have been rehashed material lately. it's bland and boring.
