Actually, I think that people who work hard to earn enough to enjoy life's little luxuries should do whatever they like with their money. I also buy cookies to gift to those I love and it makes them happy. I also like Murron, she goes the extra mile to do a good job in her baking and deserves the kudos as does Tacit

I'm sure he provides a lot of 'moral support' But I hear he's an accomplished baker in his own right.

I want tacit cookies. Only tacit cookies.
If I order tacit cookies and I taste any trace of murron in them, I'll sue.

There are several reasons why I willingly buy these cookies. 1- they are insanely delicious. If you've never had one, you can't even imagine. They are nothing like store-bought cookies. I can make homemade cookies with the best of them (snickerdoodles are my favorite things to make) but I don't always want to bake and I don't always have the time. 2- they are FRESH. You're not buying something that might have sat on the shelf for months, loaded with preservatives to keep them "fresh". It's more like buying from a bakery that doesn't use preservatives, so they make everything fresh each day. "Day old" bread is sold at a discount. These cookies are like that, although the shelf life is longer- but it's a matter of weeks, not months or even more than a year. More like the shelf life of cookies you'd make yourself. 3- they are quality. Again, you're getting good basic ingredients. Flour, eggs, sugar. Not high fructose corn syrup and a dozen ingredients you can't even pronounce. 4- they are HUGE. Imagine a CD or a DVD. That's how big around they are. And they're a good half inch thick or thicker, depending on the cookie. 5- they are made by someone I like, someone I trust, and someone I'm willing to support. She's not a huge faceless factory paying her workers minimum wage with no health benefits and crappy working conditions. I'm paying a bit more, just as I would when I buy fresh local fruits and vegetables at the farmer's market, but there are real benefits to that, in my opinion, and I'm willing to pay more for it. 6- just because it's cheaper doesn't mean it's a better item or a better value. Wal-Mart is the perfect example of this, with cheap filler foods and cheap filler goods and shady business practices. Are you honestly going to argue that it's better to buy cookies from Wal-Mart than murron, just because they're cheaper? I'm not knocking people who shop there, if that's truly all they can afford, but I'm in a good enough position that I am willing to pay for local/organic/quality foods/goods whenever feasible, and I don't mind at all splurging every once in a while on these cookies. If I was eating one a day yeah that'd be excessive, but I doubt anyone is doing that!
thats great for you, it just not my thing

The difference is I like murron, and I'll just give her crap for anything. Just like anyone else. I literally do not care about the price of her cookies. I may even buy some someday. You seem like you care so much. It's almost emotional for you.
I like murron also Im not bashing her or anyone really. I just think her cookies are alittle pricey which OTHER PEOPLE ON THIS THREAD HAVE ALREADY SAID. And sooz the only reason I brought up the weight thing was in response to Malrothien's feeble attempts at insults and werent really meant for anyone else since they werent addressed to anyone else other than those who were insulting me for adding my opinion to the same opinion that has already been stated here several times. If you havent noticed yet, certain people always like to single out other certain people for ridicule even if what they are saying is the same thing other people have already stated. If anyone can understand that Im sure its you.
Really? Not bashing anyone? You pretty much said anyone who buys them is a stupid fat lardass. You didn't just say "I would never pay that much for a cookie" or "those cookies are waaaay too overpriced" but went out of your way to insult anyone who buys them and/or eats them. "this thread makes me weep for the Earth's future" " es it is a good thing Ill never be able to pass on my jeans. Since all you fatties eating the overpriced cookies wouldnt be able to grease your fat rolls into them." (and the op spelled genes correctly, you just had to try to be funny) "Its a free country and if people are stupid enough to pay it them let them. A fool and his money are soon parted and all that."
yeah please take what I say out of context more please.
the first statement was a statement about the overpriced cookies, again for the umpteenth time, I was just saying what others have said
my second statement was a reply only to Malrothien and the other cronies that like to bash me specifically, not "anyone who buys murron's cookies" hence why I replied to that post specifically.
third statement was again another reiteration of my first statement since people dont seem to get that Im just agreeing with what the others have said in this thread.
Im not looking to make enemies. Im just trying to have the chance to express my opinion just like everyone else has had the chance to on this thread without other people getting so butthurt that they cant stand themselves.

I don't think you get it. I only respond to you in Murron's threads because you repeatedly go out of your way to point out your opinion on her cookies. It's just getting very old - we get it. You don't tip, you don't like to spend money. Also, I enjoy how you immediately resort to calling me a lard ass when I have never actually posted a picture of myself here on ACF.
Ok first of all this isnt even murron's thread. Secondly how have I gone out of my way to point out my opinion of her cookies? I made one simple statement about the price of the cookies JUST LIKE OTHER PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY ON THIS THREAD. I dont see you jumping down their throats and trying to rip it out for saying something awful about murron and her precious cookies.
I havent even said anything about the quality of her or her cookies, only the price. Im sure theyre very good cookies, one would hope so for that price. I just feel that no matter how good a cookie is, it wouldnt warrant that price. Also my first post wasnt even really about the price of her cookies specifically. It was more about the way people spend money on frivolous things that they dont really need. I think you need to stop taking things people say so personally when they arent personal at all. If you look at the big picture just because you can buy frivolous and unnecessary things doesnt mean that you have to or should. Which actually ties into why I dont tip as you so arrogantly have already brought up when you all but called me a cheapskate. But again Im still the bad guy here right?
I also enjoy how you immediately resort to using the only few bad things you know about me to try to insult and ridicule me on a public forum instead of actually trying to get to know me and know why I have the opinon(s) that I do. Lets see you've brought up my sexual orientation in a round about way since you basically said I wont have kids of my own with my male partner. Which is kind of ironic when you are one of the ones who always tell me that I am too open about my sexuality and that I talk about it too much, yet you are bringing it up not me.

I have a few things to say
One is THANK YOU I...and my husband...known as Tacit here feel VERY grateful that people buy even one of our cookies and we NEVER take that fact our our customers for granted
The secret ingredient is LOVE and I am not being facetious here...we really, really love what we do and I think that transmits to our customers. Ever been to a restaurant where the Chef is having an 'off nite'? You can taste the difference.
In response to what does Tacit do? My husband, like Silver said, is an absolutely FABULOUS baker! He did not bake when we first met, but I consider him a better baker than me Our double chocolate cookie recipe is his and I really think it is 'brownie meets cookie' fabulous!
Truly...
~Murron~
