Two points...

1) I hate Pho, so I wouldn't drive 2 miles to get it for free
2) Why would anyone be scared to get Pho in Tacoma? I doubt it was on Hilltop...

Ferd, 40 miles doesn't = 20 minutes.

Some of you act like Pho is the same as a packet of ramen, it's really not. and as Onslaught so helpfully pointed out, I'm sick, I don't want to cook, I don't want to wait for my daughter to find the ingredients, she'd have to drive nearly as far to the Asian market to get the kind of mint they use and I don't know of any other stores that carry fresh bean sprouts either. We get beef Pho, its not just chicken broth like the chicken one I assume is... and without MSG you can't just use a beef bouillon cube.

anyway, the point is that my daughter can be a pretty good kid.

seriously wtf kind of mint is that? it smelled so nasty i didn't try it. it was like assmint. and wtf is wrong with your stores that they don't carry fresh bean sprouts? i thought that was something everyone had. it's as common as lettuce here.

chick pho is not just chicken broth.

It's probably not the 'mint' yer thinking of. Asian varieties of basil have that 'mint' look/feel to it, but taste different...

I'm probably gonna be shot down or eviscerated for saying this, but, I've tasted purple asian basil, regular mint, and probably a bunch of varieties in between, like regular basil we all love in italian food, and mint we love in juleps/mojitos...the mild and strong flavor makes a big difference when cooking.

p.s. I'm a dumbass and I'm probably talking out of my arse.... (<---just quote this, it'll be easier)

no, you are correct. there are many varieties of mint and basil, each with stronger or weaker flavors. even a slight flavor change.
