So how dumb is it that somebody would go to JAIL for downloading a movie?

Seriously, the fact those F***ers would even try and put that in law, makes me want to never purchase another movie again, and I used to buy a lot of movies. I don't buy more than 2 or 3 movies a year anymore because I got pissed off with the shift to BluRay and how much they were over charging for that. For the record, I don't pirate anything either.

The entire problem is one of entitlement in my opinion. Entertainment people EXPECT to get payed insane amounts of money for what they do now and the fact that they can no longer all become huge millionaires on the current business plan and maybe never again in the future, really irks them. In a lot of ways, it is similar to how the old cart and buggy drivers hated vehicles when they first came out.

Still, JAIL terms for people who illegally accessed something? WTF. Does that logic eventually mean if we walk by a TV store and see a movie playing that we can go to jail if we dont pay a few dollar fee?

Then you have your idiotic members of the US Congress who happily jump on board this retarded bill because there is $94 million in Lobbying funds coming their way but when more important things come around, they are too divided to do anything. The even more hilarious part is that all the sponsors of this bill are 150 years old and probably have never touched a computer in their life.

As bad as it sounds, I hope the entire movie industry goes bust. What replaces it will "get it" and finally come to grips with reality.

It always kind of bothered me that movie stars made millions while our fire fighters/police/EMTs/etc made peanuts in comparison.

This will help overcrowding in the prison system.

Once content delivery systems improve, prices will decline as well as piracy. Steam is proof.

Agree completely. Not to say piracy isn't a problem, but personal use should not be punishable by being incarcerated.

I think the protests are going about it all wrong.

Protesting the entertainment industry by boycotting it would be a lot more effective.

That bothers everybody but I get WHY they are payed that. Over the last 80 years or so, people went to movies in large numbers and payed ticket prices that meant developers of movies got payed a lot of money. The later VHS and DVD craze made even MORE money, so that got dispursed to movie people.

On top of that, until about 20 years ago, there were a lot LESS entertainment types available to people to spend money on so movies, music and sports got the majority of entertainment money from people.

Fine.

However, todays world is different. People are no longer buying DVD and Blu-Ray in huge numbers, movies are down, tv is down, etc, etc.

So, replace your model or accept the fact that movies may never be a $25million per actor per movie industry again.

Everything changes.

I wouldn't say entertainers get paid a lot. Some of them don't get paid crap while some others get hundreds of millions. If there's anything wrong with the entertainment industry these days that would be the biggest problem I think.

This is all government backed though. Biden has been a patsy for the MPAA and RIAA for his entire career as the joke of the senator he was. The DoJ is filled with former MPAA/RIAA laywers. One of the more prominent and powerful democratic leaders left the senate and is now the CEO of the MPAA (Chris Dodd). We should be voting out any and every senator and congressmen who tossed their support behind the bills, even if they now withdrew it.

RIAA shuts down Youtube due to copyright violations. Their newest competitor and the emerging medium hurting their market share.

Can't innovate, pay some politicians to legislate.
