lab created diamonds are still very expensive and not that good yet but i'm sure that will change over time

lab created emeralds have been around for a long time and while they aren't cheap they are a lot less expensive than a mined one

I'm one of those few women that isn't very impressed by diamonds. They're clear and a little sparkly, but I'd prefer something with color.

It would be awesome if they figure out Tanzanite to lab create it, since the mines only seem to be pulling out the lesser quality stones these days.

for anyone interested in buying loose stones, this place has always been great for me. and they have such a huge collection of different stones, I found them from ebay years ago, they still do auctions too.

i would rather purchase the lab developed stones from a moral standpoint. you don't know where that non_lab_developed stone is coming from, and by what means was it mined.

Precious stones used to be currency, and of course decoration.

When the world moved on and economies got their act together and dealt with each others representative currencies, precious stones really became about decoration (setting aside the industrial uses of them).

One thing I can tell you is true: you will never go broke overestimating the vanity of human beings.

It hasn't even been all that difficult for the marketing folks to convince people that ostentatious displays of wealth in the form of impractical rare stones is not only a good thing. This vanity issue was readily subverted to the point that so many actually literally believe that they can gauge the depth of their partner's love by the size of the precious stone their partner gives them...

As far as I'm concerned, if you can make a super duper saw blade or abrasive out of them, or if you can shoot a laser through them that does some awesome task, then they're great. Other than that, they might as well just be bits of colored glass as far as I care.

I love yellow/tan/brown gemstones. Don't care for that ring at all though. But those colors are awesome with my complexion, which has yellow undertones, rather than pink or blue.

My wife would S*** down both legs if i could afford to buy her any jewels she wouldnt care if they were blood stones or lab stones.

the only jewelry my wife cared about was the engagment/wedding rings.. other than that, she'd rather have the latest iphone than a necklace.

I fail to see how it matters.

All lab created gems would solve a LOT of issues in Africa.
