I usually use a bit of corn starch slurry to really thicken up the stew right before i get ready to eat it.
The yeast dough sounds interesting, never made it, but sounds like something I had a few times at a friend of mines house. Wasn't with chicken stew though, it was with this beef and potato dish. Very, very good.
the way my mom does it is she rolls the dough out like a 1/4" thick and cuts it into strips or squares.
she drops the raw dough into the broiling broth and the excess flour the comes off the dumplings mixed with the broth makes a fine gravy.

If i didnt have to cook dinner id probably eat the assend of a skunk. Im so sick of making dinner and then having to fight my kids to get them to shut up and be greatful they have food on the table

Let them pick whatever they want for dinner as long as they make it. (parent assisted of course) Kids tend to like the food they cook.
