You will most likely pay more in taxes than you ever receive from this.
Seems a little pointless... jury duty is a responsibility of citizens for our system of governance not a job/something you should get paid for.

mine pays but i havent ever had, or know anyone that has had, long long trials or anything. no idea what they would do then.

Nope. Not in Washington State, anyway. "  our employer is not required to pay you while you are on jury duty, however, employers are prohibited by law from firing an employee for serving as a juror. RCW 2.36.165"
So they couldn't fire him but they could make him use his vacation time if he wanted to have money during that time period.
And my original statement was that I think the courts/judicial system should pay your regular salary/rate, not that your employer should have to. If they want people to serve willingly then they should make it worth it. Won't ever happen though. The closest they might ever come is requiring employers to pick up the tab for employees on jury duty.
