Help Support Dave and 4 Kids. Sue needs to sort herself out; and Dave is the one who doesn't have the support. Asshole is only an Asshole in this instance if he knew about Dave, and decided to keep going. Even so, Sue is the person who instigated all of this and beating up Asshole really serves no purpose.
Unless of course Asshole was raping Sue, then there's other things going on there... but Sue needs help, Dave and 4 Kids really need help; Asshole needs to be removed from their lives.
So; Get Dave to get more help from the professionals he sees; and if you can, give Dave the personal help you can afford. Let Sue stew for a bit.
