I wasn’t going to bring this drama here, but I know we have some good people here, and any advise would help

Ok here we go:

6 -7 years ago one of the moms in my son’s preschool class made a push to get the moms to be friends. Well, it worked. There are about 10 families now who are tight, and our kids play together, and the adults have all become pretty good friends.. We have done a lot of stuff together. My daughter actually helped in bringing us together.. We were all here for each other. She is not the one that spearheaded it, but she is one of the moms in the group. Ok that’s the background


What happened: Let’s call him oh.. Dave, and we will call her Sue

They have been having trouble. Nobody knew it, they kept it to themselves. He got her to go to therapy with him. He goes all the time, she went once I think. In the one session, she revealed that she has been having an affair with this guy she works with.. We will call him asshole. Dave did not leave.. he has tried to be supportive of her and their 4 kids. She would swap beds back and forth between Asshole and Dave. Dave tried his very best to keep the family together.. I know a lot of guys would of said eff this, I’m out of here.. and maybe he should have. He tried to keep the family together. I think there is something said for that as well.

Ok.. I asked how he was doing a couple of weeks ago.. he texted me back saying they were great, and her and asshole were done they were “getting back to normal” as he put it.

Well the rumors were that asshole left her. IMO I think she backed this up by trying to OD on pills. She is in the mental hospital and wants Dave not to be there, and keeps throwing him out of her room…. He keeps trying.. poor guy is a friggin wreck.

Now she says she is not going to leave unless asshole picks her up… Oh, and Asshole tried to take pills himself I gather


Should I go beat the living crap out of asshole? That won’t help…. But what does Dave do? I have no idea what to say to him

The best advise is to stay as far out of it as you can.

Stay out of it. Don't get sucked into it. Be thankful that this is a bullet you can avoid. And yes, that means don't allow your wife to drag you or her into it.

Keep yourself out of it... Just be there if Dave comes to you. Give no advice, just listen. That's the best thing you can do as a friend.
