he is someone I go out with, do things for, and have feelings for, but we aren't boyfriend/girlfriend. This is the person I generally refer to as "manfriend". It is not an exclusive relationship, which is why I doubt that he's doing it for Sith's reasons.. there just is no point. I don't think he would have bothered texting me 45 times after I dropped him off trying to figure out why I was mad. Just moments before the obnoxiousness happened he had invited me to dinner/movie.
doesn't make any sense to invite me over and then sabotage it intentionally.

Your argument isn't ' he doesn't understand', it's ' he won't do what I tell him to do'.
This is a control issue, not a singing problem. You need to realize you can't dictate the actions of your friends. Accept them for who they are or cut ties and move on.
