Maybe if all the natives had shared a single language, they would have been able to share their knowledge more easily, progressed their technology and wouldn't have gotten steamrolled by the English speaking white man.
and the Spanish, Portuguese, and French...

There is a few linguistic groups with hundreds of different dialects... probably no different than Europe. People also traded throughout North America... there was an advanced sign language that was used.
I am confused why people are romanticizing the past... if you think people could all talk to each other anytime in America's history you are confused... I am guessing that a lot of people could not even understand the illiterate English people running around speaking their hillbilly dialect. Also always has been immigrants speaking different languages.
And I am confused by what you mean got "dominated"... there are 569 Native Nations currently that have government to government relations with the United States.

Who is romanticizing the past? I'm saying at present, English is our dominant language. It is the international trade language and the de facto (there is some language diversity for you) language of our science.

For some reason, I think that's more of a liberal mindset that "conservatives" have adopted. . . Expecting others to change in order to fit the needs of the government/majority.
I know like how other countries do it... oh wait...
Unless you are super special you better learn to speak that countries native language in order to do business there.
