My sister asked the lady at the Chinese restaurant how it was pronounced and she said "Poe".
We had a good laugh about that for a while.

I've found that Americans have a hard time with authentic Asian food. Subtle flavors are lost in favor of "I want fatty meet with corn syrup based bbq sauce all over it. Put that on plain bleached white rice and serve it with 5 or 6 light beers that were brewed and bottled in america and given ethnic sounding names."
That pretty much sums up every asian american dish as well as mexcian american.
Then we get angry when the rest of the world calls us idiotic fat asses...
lol, pretty much.
I live in a place where there are lots of Asian immigrants -- Chinese and Vietnamese primarily. There's a lot of Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants here.
So where do the white people eat here? They go to this giant crappy Cantonese/Polynesian Chinese restaurant and cocktail lounge, the kind that was popular in the U.S. during the 70s, and get terrible fake Chinese-American food where the veggies come from cans. But it's ok because they can get scorpion bowls there.

Oh Good to know! I didn't know there were a bunch of people sensitive to it. I thought it was just another hypochondriac thing that made me feel like I have issues with MSG.
