Guess I read too much into some of it and not enough into others. The "everyone is infected", doesn't make as much sense. Is it a new thing? Or was it like that from the beginning? That might patch up some plotholes...

you're assuming that the virus became airborne and spread BEFORE massive amounts of people died. that doesn't have to be the case at all. that shit can be slow and steady and a whole fkload of people could die from whatever the hell they all died from on the freeway before they were infected. that also doesn't conflict with a bite killing you.
