Work for a brokerage firm, not in the oil industry. Oil prices have more to do with speculation in brokerages than stock piles in the oil industry.

If the prices actually change. I'm not convinced they will. A lot of people that are invested in oil and have control of prices are willing to use any plausible excuse to raise prices. And this isn't the first time reserves have been used. As I recall Bush did the same. I really think they need to expand the drilling in Alaska. It seems like they're saving it for some unseen future date. But at the same time they need to continue to work on alternative fuels.
But you're right, many won't read the article.
