Man sentenced to 15.5 years for DUI driving accident that killed 5 year old.

Damn! I had heard that this morning on the news. That is the most severe penalty I have heard of involving DUI vehicular manslaughter.
Ronald Bevan was sentenced to 186 months, or 15-1/2 years, for his role in a vehicle crash that killed 5-year-old Amber Randolph of Clearwater.
Prosecutors said Bevan, 30, was drunk while racing his friend Matthew Noel on West Kellogg on Feb. 12, 2011. They said Bevan cut off Noel, causing Noel to wreck his pickup truck into the vehicle being driven by Amber's mother, Michelle, who was also injured.
Bevan was convicted of aggravated battery and involuntary manslaughter. He had also been charged for second degree murder.
Noel's first trial ended in a hung jury. He will face a new trial in May.

That's harsh. He didn't do it on purpose, it was still an accident.

I do not have any sympathy for the fellow. Just surprised at the length of the sentence. Certainly, I hope it will help be a detriment.

He drank on purpose and raced on purpose. If you ever have a child you lose to a drunk driver think back to your comment here when you wish he gets locked up for the rest of his life.
