Hmm I can't get that map program to run for the life of me. Tried toggling off firewall, antivirus, patching, reinstalling. No go o.0 I'm going to poke around and see if I can find another ingame map that is friendlier to run for me, not sure what the issue is on my end.

Which client are you running? The one linked above (http://www.minecraftam.com/mm.aspx) is what you want. It isn't really an in game map as it runs in its own window but it does it well. It can be a bit of a memory beast though so you can reduce the map in an editor like Gimp/Photoshop to 50% or 25% then change the ratio in MM and it will run fine. What is it, or isn't it, doing? I can probably tell you what to do if I know where the snag is. It is just java, same as Minecraft, so should run fine baring resource/memory issues on your computer.

That is the one I am using. Message I am getting is:

Quote:

Connection refused. If Minecraft is already running and has been patched by the Minecraft AutoMap installer, make sure your firewall is not blocking communication to and from Minecraft.

I went so far as to shut down my firewall and antivirus and I still get that message (Yes I tried the PatchMinecraft as well )

It looks like you're trying to use AutoMap not Minecraft Map. It's the same author so both downloads are on the same page. AutoMap is first so you have to scroll down to get MM. http://www.minecraftam.com/Files/MinecraftMap_0.3.2.zip is the file you want. That map will NEVER say anything about patching the client. I runs to the side in it's own window.

I like what Steel said about warps. I'm personally trying to run to places when I can. On the last server there was an awesome road full of epic bridges that nobody ever used. I use /home when I'm full of loot and night is close but otherwise it's all running. My only fear in running to someone's place is that I have a "hug me" sign on my back and I don't want their stuff exploding because I pulled a creeper.

Adding and testing WorldGuard and WorldEdit now which should give us back our Cuboid like protections and commands. I also want to reduce or maybe even completely remove warping. Switch us back to simple home and set home with no invites. Remove warps all together and add something like the stargate system. Still thinking on that part but right now my big one is getting admin/mod tools back up to speed.

What about mod only created warps and invites to home?

I liked the stargates much more than warps. I would love stargates, /home, and /spawn to be all.

Yeah I want to get back to stargates too. Not a big fan of being able to have a list of warps and users maintaining their own. I don't mind a settable home that you can make public or even some, mod controlled, warp points but free for all makes the world much too small much too fast.

That said we have area protection back now and a viable way to protect your chests so we are in a better place. Everything seems stable and I'll be spending some time tomorrow documenting everything for the users and the mods so we can all know where everything is and how it works.

Again any problems with stability or performance let me know in this thread. Seems to be a 4-5 second lag spike every 15 minutes when the incremental backup kicks in but that is trivial compared to the lag we ran into before. Seems smooth and fast every time I'm on and we have a much higher average player count than we did in the past.

Also, any plugin ideas or cool stuff you saw on other servers or stuff you read about on the forums post them here so we can discuss and maybe implement them.

To avoid this:

I built my floors out of dirt until I have the fireplaces going safely. I wound up with this:
