In general I feel u can only punish someone for so long, if the government says he's payed equally for what he's done let em go
But really I don't see how they could find he's safe to be let back into society

He's an old tired man who made mistakes in his youth. He's spent more time in prison then any other murderer i know of, should he die in prison? No, i don't think he should.
I would set him free for his last days. Maybe he'll try to make up for the mistakes he's made, letting him out is the only way to know.
