I auto loot.
I found (before BoAs and thousands in an alt bank to distribute funds to other toons) that if you loot everything you can make money quickly. I remember the bear carcases in Tarren Mill went for 1 silver a piece. I was psyched at the time, so I always loot.
I actually got an epic drop from a scorpion in Tanaris years ago. A one handed axe.

Always, all toons, all levels.
I had over 500k gold when cata released and I *still* loot everything.
People who don't loot are fools for either being lazy or for being cheaters that buy gold for cash.

I loot it all and leave for the city as soon as my bags are full. Mail most of it to my auction toon and vendor sell the rest.

I always loot except the very lowest of levels (like 1-10) on ranged classes.
It drives me crazy when I group with my friend who never loots - I don't know if it's laziness, impatience, or absentmindedness, but he's always broke.

Always. Even if I don't auction it or use it, vendors will buy it.

Maybe I'm missing something, but looting really doesn't seem to take that long for me with autoloot on...
Edit: Although, I wouldn't be terribly bothered if they just automated the entire looting process either. I guess I should say, 'when they just automate..."
