I loot everything. I too probably got the habit from AC... with everything being RNG in that game, you looted everything, or at least LOOKED at everything. In WoW, I just turn on Autoloot and loot everything.
If I'm doing a quest where I'm killing many things, I'll usually kill 3-5 mobs first, then loot them all at once. Seems quicker that way rather than kill/loot/kill/loot. I can leave no sparkly untouched though... I loot/herb/mine/whatever is in my sight. It seems I'm always poor, so the more I can get the better.

As a hunter I love Loot a rang. saves time running to corpses.
How very Legend of Zelda of them. This looks awesome and I want one, but I'm not playing any toons with engineering right now...

When soloing, yes, always. When grouped for a random or some other really fast paced activity, since I am usually tanking it and therefor almost always determining the pace we go, then no I rarely stop to loot. I can remember COUNTLESS times that skinners were cussing me out because I would not stop and run back 200 ft to loot that random critter with a grey 2 silver junk item claw on it so they could skin.
Although of course for new content, meaning new loot when a new expansion is out, sure I will definately make more of an effort then to stop and clean the floor. But really, if you have been playing WoW for any significant amount of time and especially if you are starting over on a new character with BoA gear/weapons, is there really anything that you could loot that will be all that useful to you? Especially if you do alot of the randoms and are therefor filling up the majority of your slots with dungeon completion rewards or boss loot?

I usually loot everything, but if my bags are getting full and I can't get to a vendor, then I start throwing out stuff that's not worth much money.
Even when I'm not actively looting, I will at least look at the contents just in case they drop something valuable, as I found out when I nabbed a rare purple parrot from a pirate during a quest in booty bay where they attack the town. My guildies told me that it was worth anywhere from 6-15k, and I made about 7k off that one drop in the AH. I suppose I could've gotten more, but eh, that's the most I ever made from one item

To paraphrase people in another thread here, why play WoW if not for the loot/rewards? Gotta grab everything the game gives you.

i don't like wasting either but its just that when picking up loot takes more time than anything else in game, it feels wrong (this is on my lowbie alt where i kill very fast). when i first starting playing WoW i remember i thought how ridiculously tedious it was to pick up loot...there must be some way to bind a button to target loot/pick it up, but i never seen such a thing.
i do however mine/herb every node i see since they actually give exp now. on that note i have a question: is mining/herb the ONLY tradeskills that give exp? what about skinning animals, or disenchanting stuff, etc? do they give exp? i am trying to make the ultimate leveler so all i care about is exp so i will pick my skills based on that

From what I've seen so far, only mining, herbing, and archaeology give you xp (archaeology was giving my 84 mage about 30k xp per artifact find, which added up quite a bit after a while, but not as fast as just killing mobs/questing). Be nice if skinning gave you xp too, even if it was only at a reduced amount compared to the other ones.

aww thats a shame. i woulda liked to been a skinner too if it gave exp for the worgen's skill bonus. i guess mining/herb combo is good enough since we can search for both type of nodes at the same time now.
