I went back when it went F2P, but I just couldn't deal with the horrendous point and click controls anymore.

Your quote from Unforgiven?

If so, it's wrong!

It is open world pvp without a single instance. I loved it.
It is cruel and unfair at times. I loved it.
There were not huge patches that changed how your class played month to month. I loved it.
PvE was something you did to level and get gear. It wasn't the focus of the game. I loved it.

I wonder if there will be a graphic overhaul. It is kinda dated.

This definitley has my interest spiked. Wonder what the odds are of the new dev team taking out the point and click?

Edit: Just youtubed some videos...yeah, this definitley needs a graphic overhaul!

Doubt it. The entire game was designed around Point and Click movement to reduce stress on the server. Gotta keep in mind how old this tech is.

The entire dev tam has been refocused to the server development currently. They are working on a brand new client but that has been put on hold for the time being as they work to get the server 100% functional. I highly doubt they'll take out PnC but it's a possibility. Personally I just adapted to the PnC playstyle and had fun regardless. I didn't like it at all when i started but after my first time getting ganked I really didn't care how i was moving =D All I could think was, I wanna do that!

Also, for those interested, there is an open preview of the game today (14th-18th) I believe. They're getting some free stress testing every so often. Your character as I understand it starts at lvl 10 and upon choosing your profession/class you become level 75. There is a runeshack to get the runes from instead of having to go farm the mobs that spawn that drop them to make the previews easier to gather info from.

How to create a Play To Crush account: posted:

Game Server and Account FAQ
There are several things you must do in order to successfully connect to the Play to Crush servers: obtain the fully patched (as of July 1st, 2009) Shadowbane client, properly configure the client to work with PTC, and create a PTC game account.

Obtaining the Client
Unfortunately, Play to Crush is unable to assist with obtaining the proper client. There are those who have been able to do so in the past, so it is possible and they may be willing to offer assistance on this matter.

Configuring the Client
Once you have obtained the client, you will need to edit the "ArcaneIP.cfg" file to contain the address of the PTC servers. Instructions for doing so are included below:

1. Navigate to your Shadowbane directory (E.g. C:\Program Files\Shadowbane)
2. Open the Config folder
3. Locate ArcaneIP.cfg
4. Right click on it, and select "Open with..." from the menu
5. Choose to open the file with Notepad
6. Edit the file so that the following is displayed:
Code:

SERVER= logon.playtocrush.com
PORT= 6000

7. Go to File and select Save
8. Close ArcaneIP.cfg

Creating a PTC Game Account
Once you have properly configured your client, the last step is creating your PTC game account, which will be used to login when prompted after launching the client. To create a game account:

1. On the forums, click on the "User CP" link in the upper left
2. Go to "Create Game Account" on the left
3. Follow the steps to create an account

Once you have completed the process, your account will be added to the database shortly and you will be able to login!

Launching the Client
It is important to note that you must use "sb.exe" to launch the client; the automatically created shortcut that many installers will create launches the patcher instead, which will not work properly. Again, many times you can find sb.exe located in C:\Program Files\Shadowbane. Creating a shortcut to this file on your desktop is perhaps the easiest way to launch the game:

1. Navigate to your Shadowbane directory (E.g. C:\Program Files\Shadowbane)
2. Locate and right click on sb.exe
3. Select "Send to"
4. Click on "Desktop (create shortcut)"

You should now notice a new shortcut on your desktop that looks something like "sb - Shortcut". Feel free to rename it as you see fit, and you may now launch the client simply by clicking on this shortcut.

Troubleshooting
If you encounter any difficulties installing and configuring your client, or with your game account, please feel free to make a post in the Troubleshooting forum. You might also try taking a look around there first, as someone may have encountered a similar problem in the past.

PnC stopped me from ever bothering to try this game. It just isn't a suitable method of movement in MMO's.

That's a con from starting with AC(I think i saw u say u started there before?) rather than UO in the MMO genre ;p I think UO conditioned a lot of folks to not really care about PnC
