posted:We hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday weekend, and are pleased to present the very first State of the Bane of 2011! Because the first of the month was a holiday, as well as a weekend, we decided to post today instead. In the future it is likely that State of the Bane updates will be posted on the first weekday of the month, rather than the actual first day of the month.
Progress
As those of you who follow the SVN log here in the forums already know, there has been an incredible amount of progress on key aspects of gameplay over the past few weeks. All of the developers have been hard at work, and I know some (Rich for sure) even did a bit of coding on Christmas day. This work is all in preparation for the first monthly preview that is quickly approaching us. Major features that have been recently implemented include:
* Discipline runes have been implemented.
* Discipline trainers are working and have been placed on the map in the appropriate locations.
* Stat runes have also been implemented.
* Item enchantments and baked in stats are now functioning
* Buying and selling to NPC vendors has been added.
* The item lists for NPC vendors have been set up and SDR gear is now available.
* Runemasters are working.
While the team is always working on adding more functionality, we are also always working on fixes as well. Countless fixes have been made over the past few weeks, but here are several highlights from that list for those who are interested:
* The power effects stack order has been fixed, powers will dispel in the correct order now.
* Fixed movement synch issue in buildings (which includes the area around a Tree of Life) which removes the "
ou must come closer to me" spam.
* Improved cleanup of dead client connections (passive disconnect).
* Character creation resistance runes are now working, before they were not being taken into account on the server even though their effect was showing on the client.
* Nephilim horn color now works properly - the default color was being shown, regardless of what you picked on character creation.
Finally, another major database restructuring is in the works that will improve the way things are stored in the game database. This is a rather lengthy and involved process, but will help things go more smoothly down the road. All in all, this month has been an outstanding one as far as development goes, both in terms of new features and bug fixes.
First Monthly Preview
Because development is coming along so well, we are happy to announce that the first scheduled monthly preview will be taking place later this month, from January 14th-18th! Every successive monthly preview will be held at approximately the same time every month, the second full weekend, and be similar in duration. Several days before the preview a comprehensive list of new functionality for testing and any specific instructions from the team will be posted. Each of these announcements will likely single out several items for rigorous testing, and we will stronglyencourage people to report any bugs they encounter.
For this first preview you can expect most of the new functionality listed in the "Progress" section above to be available, at the very least. Because stat and discipline runes have been implemented, we do plan on having vendors in SDR where they can be acquired. For now that is about all we can give for details, look for the "pre-preview" announcement with more in less than two weeks!
New Team Members
Several new members have joined the Play to Crush team over the past month or so, including waymirec, Madmax, and coder1024 on the development team, as well as Euclid on the design team. Each of these individuals has already contributed a great deal to the project and has been very active since joining - the recent increase in productivity is, in part, due to them joining the team.
Wiki Editing
In an effort to ensure the accuracy of information in the Wiki we have decided that it would be best to increase the number of individuals with the ability to edit it. If you would like to edit the wiki, we ask that you PM either Starfish or RedOctober with the following information:
* Name
* General Shadowbane knowledge level? (low/moderate/high)
* Past experience with Wikis, and if so, what?
* Have you actively edited the Morloch Wiki in the past?
* Why would you like access to the Wiki?
We encourage all who are interested to apply; individuals will be granted the ability to edit the Wiki at the team's discretion. It goes without saying that any abuse of editing privileges will not be tolerated, the Wiki is a valuable resource for new players and veterans alike, so maintaining the accuracy of the information within it is important to nurturing the community.
Client Group
The client development group has been temporarily put on hold, and all developers previously working on it have diverted their efforts to the server development group instead. We still plan on developing a new client for Play to Crush, but have decided that finishing the server quickly is a higher priority at present. Once server development nears completion the client group will begin work on their original project again.

) can give us more detail on the game itself. I missed the chance of playing the game. Same goes with Asherons Call. Looks like those two games were epic at times, but I missed it due to playing Daoc mainly.
