Yep, you can respec for a monetary cost. You can have 4 specs (roles) utilizing 3/8 trees (subclasses) in each.

They don't really care about balance as far as I can tell in PvE. If you want to play the most powerful class, go for it, whatever the players eventually determine that to be. In PvP, each archetype has a PvP soul (aka talent tree) that pretty much has to be used for PvP since it magnifies damage against other players and so on. This is their attempt at balance. They balance these PvP trees, and call it a day.

Then again, I could be wrong, and they start nerfing left and right. However, even in the beta, where nerfing is allowed, they really haven't been doing it.

Yeah it's a lot of freaking combos. I really like my assassin/riftstalker combo, but I was looking over the other soul for the Rogue, and the magic based soul looks cool, and they also have a ranged rogue (not a hunter though) that builds combo points at 20 yards. That sounds pretty cool. And the guy that builds up combo points for no damage, then blasts a finisher for a huge chunk looks pretty wicked too. I just haven't had enough time to try them all in beta!!

Openworld?

Only BGs?

Certain Zones?

Seperate servers?

They gonna have PvE and PvP rulesets. After playing DCUO on a PvP server, I think I'm gonna do PvP this time around. I've always been a carebear, so it should be interesting. I think it is for me though. I loved the thrill on DCUO, provided it isn't too much griefing.

They do have Warfronts, the two they showed were AB and (forgive me for the horrible slang term) "smear the queer", so far.

Seems like all zones are PvP, but they had some problems on the beta with people griefing by going into the middle of a RIFT PvE struggle, and flagging themselves to get hit by AoE. Not sure how they addressed it...

Thanks Arc and thanks Sprawl for the info...

I'm hearing more and more good things!

What's the downside?

There are those who play tank classes, and those that tank.
The weapon is only as good as the person wielding it.
Free advice is often worth what you pay for it: nothing.

It's a WoW clone at the basis. So if that doesn't appeal to you, then you won't like it.

Most MMORPGs in the last decade have been incestuous, including WoW.

Come on, gimme something significant.

Seriously, I understand for some players that would be an issue. I'm looking for things like: requires upgrade in PCs, forced grouping, non-stop drop everything for the good of the realm...

Maybe I should just wait until the "honeymoon" phase is over, play it and find out for myself. Signed up for the newsletter. Husband and I have commited to trying it out. Our guild was talking about it tonight as our "lowbie" group which was at 23 last weekend hit level 42 just by dungeon leveling. Half the time we were talking about how epic the WoW dungeons didn't feel anymore. Even Scholo, which was harder than most with just 4 of us (which isn't saying a whole lot.)

Thanks for the reply.

PvP rulesets:

Isn't there 2 factions to this game like WoW?

Is the PvP all out attack anyone anywhere anytime or only the opposing faction or?

Warfronts are battlegrounds? As in a zone in, seperate from regular world kinda deal?

PVE:

Will these server types have warfronts(BGs)?

PvP open zones?

Hate to ask all these questions here but I'm having issues with their website so hope it's not too much bother for ya
