Guildmate and I are having fun atm playing with the soul planner and speculating how we can use interweaving abilities. For us, that's half the game right there... the planning.
Ooo, I'm intrigued. Can you cite a few examples? I love finding synergies between classes/specs! I play with my son, so we're always playing together (either with friends and often duoing).
Usually we're thinking group starter combo and healer/tank or tank/off-tank and building the rest of the group from there... so we started playing around with a pally/reaver - riftblade/reaver trying to figure out how NOT to overlap abilities and where each of us could pick up group support (core tanking). Then what happens if I put a sentinel/purifier in with the pally/reaver tank and he puts a purifier/notsure in with riftblade/pally for tanking or maybe a druid/shaman .... weaving rogue/ranger or rogue/bard for my daughter or a pryo/elem. Different combos of pure melee groups/melee support versus tank with ranged dps.
...we just got started. So still speculating... too many combos! Haven't even started looking at the rogue classes for real.....
Maybe we need to start a thread on the IGN board asking for duos?

There are those who play tank classes, and those that tank.
The weapon is only as good as the person wielding it.
Free advice is often worth what you pay for it: nothing.

all your builds only have 2 souls!
You get 3!
I have a mid 20's Shaman/Sentinal/Warden, and it's a machine, nice melee dps from shaman, instant heals from Sent and hots from the warden, I fully admit that most of my points are in Shaman for the time being.
Another good healer combo is Justicar/Shaman/Druid - justicar heals through melee damage, shaman increases melee damage, and druid gets some heals and a pet that will heal the group.
Bard is by far my favorite soul, I have been playing with "fully ranged" bards (as their songs have 20-25yd ranges), and going bard/night/sab, or my "pvp" role of bard/assassin/bladedancer
You are 100% correct, the possibilities are so much fun, i play with the calculator for a few hours everyday.

I don't see how everyone has so much hype for Rift I'm just burned out on MMO's for the last 3-4 years I guess. It seems like WAR graphics with WoW interace and a twist on Ultima Online skill building. I tried to enjoy it but I don't think I got passed 10? I unlocked two souls I think.. went storm and something else.

What? I am tired of WoW myself, but Rift does not have the same Polish as WoW.
Not even close.
- better graphics (Not even close.)
- less lag (WoW may just be odd software glitches and not true lag. I'm not sure.)
- customizable UI (WoW needs addons to get what most people want.)
- etc.
What is your definition of polish in a game?
Better graphics does not equal better polish. They are very clearly using the same graphics engine as Warhammer. We all know that game had no polish.
I experienced lag in the Beta... no it wasn't graphics lag. I experience no laggy effects in WoW
Customizable UI - debatable. If Anything Trion just continued their doctrine of taking what we saw in the various addons and incorporated them.
That all being said - Rift feels well done. Has a reasonable amount of polish, meaning that everything just works well.
Of course there are no reports on end game yet. As we have seen this makes or breaks an MMO.
I am sure the game will do well. But I am unsure if "Feels like WoW" is going to carry it as far as some may think. Once the newness of playing with soul combination's wears off....
Yeah I am still going to play the game.

Having browsed the 'soul' calculator at Zam a little bit... I can only imagine that balancing this game is going to be nigh impossible. It'll be very interesting to see what happens, assuming the game is good enough for enough people to actually get to and care about the end-game.

I'm not sure it needs to be balanced, but that sometimes differs with opinion. As someone that enjoys playing the underdog at times, I personally don't need a perfectly balanced game. I have the choice to choose the overpowered class, if I want, and I do sometimes as well.

Well, PvP certainly doesn't NEED balance, but the more balance you have, the more interesting the PvP will be (otherwise everyone will just gravitate towards the few cookie cutter specs that can perform).
I'm not even sure what a PvE end-game will look like, but I'd imagine it'd be the same way - unless you want to cause trouble for your friends / guild / pug, you'll spec to the "good" spec.
Of course for solo-type play, you can do whatever you want =)

You're probably right, but all the same, I'm playing a freaking Rogue tank, and I'm probably going to be not as good as a warrior. Quite frankly, I don't give a rats ass. I will be a Rogue tank!
