WoW was awesome in pre-BC, pre-GC since then all the fun has been normalized, and genericized right out of it!

It`s that "mmorpg trope" thing, where people miss old school/vanilla times. Ironically, Eve Online doesn´t really fit because the game evolved without raping too much of the vanilla stuff. (ymmv)
Eve Online!  It takes a particular type of masocist to play that game.

Wow hasn't change its level of awesomeness, or population size in over 6 years, just your persepctive of it has changed. Currently it is nothing but full of awesome for me. I expect that in two-three months I will tire of it again and I will cancel the accounts.
