The only good PvP games are FPS games.

If you were a PvE player who was tired of WoW itself but liked the WoW style of gameplay, Rift would be great.

If you were a gamer whose only experience of PvP was 'honor grinding' in instanced battlegrounds in WoW and IF you actually liked that, Rift would work out for you.

But I'd never recommend Rift to a player looking for an exact DAoC copy.

It may be tough to comprehend this, Demorak, but DAOC in and of itself is not the only approach to good PvP.

However, if you think that Rift's current PvP implementation is worth recommending, I really don't know what to say. It's no different than what WoW threw out there as an afterthought to a PvE-centered, raid-centered game. It sure as heck won't provide anything remotely resembling a strong PvP endgame.

But if Rift is your idea of a great PvP environment, then by all means, have a blast.

Rifts PvE = wow clone + it stole warhammer onlines public quest system.

Rifts PvP = Mindless/Boring/Fail

If you haven't played WoW, I think you will enjoy Rift,If you have played WoW and enjoy Rift, you seriously need to get out more,It's a clone.

One wonders if he really took the time to think about this before writing it

His point is that Rift is as enjoyable as WoW but that you can't enjoy Rift as much as WoW

Unless your umemployed give Rift a shot otherwise try one of those they mentioned that a free.

Sure Rift is a bit cloney but it is definitely worth the money even if you just play it several months.

Aye, Stormie has good advice here - LOTRO is an excellent a cheap suggestion. You can register and play for free until level 20+. Give it a try, roll a few different classes and races.

Now if you want to try Rift, go for it - I'm culprit of it myself - but don't tell us we didn't warn you

2 times in a post I can agree with, Korrigan... wow. Sadly WoW is the best fantasy genre MMO out there. You can try out others but you may not get the mileage you did from WoW.

Rift has a lot of the same, some different, different skins.

All fantasy crap!

My best advice would be to take off a month or two 2 and come back fresh to WoW. I just took off 1.5 months and I actually want to login again.

Yeah, Rift was far too similar. I have played LotRO before, but I hated it pretty quickly.

I wanted to play and like DCUO, but I have not heard good things. I decided I am going to mess around with Champions Online for a bit since it is free and I only have about 4 hours per week to play lately, with my work schedule.

When work lets up a bit, I will probably log back in to WoW and see if I am any more interested. In the mean time, it's kind of fun to learn a new game again. It isn't great, but it is certainly entertaining enough to justify the F2P cost! :-)

APB(All Points Bulletin) should be back up and running soon. The new guys that took over it are doing beta testing now.

That's if you like shooters. It's sort of an MMO shooter. Not something you'd want to spend countless hours on like WoW, but still pretty cool

Will be good if they new company handling it fix the problems it had. It will be F2P too, but like most F2P games you can still get premium(paid) accounts and such. I don't know much about how that works but can't wait to play it again.
