Checking DPS is the problem. DPS meters in-game were the worst addition to WoW ever, IMO. Did you kill the boss? Then who cares what the DPS was?

Also, turnabout is fair play. Someone berates you for bad gear, yet you out-DPS their class that should be well ahead of yours? More time DPSing and less time instigating. /votekick for trying to cause drama in a PuG.

I call people out for PvP gear all the time, but only when they are pulling crappy DPS and using that gear to cheat the dungeon finder reqs. If they are pulling decent DPS I could care less what gear they are wearing.

And yes kicking the person who commented on your PvP gear was juvenile.

So do you call people out for PvP gear all the time or just when their DPS sucks? You should probably understand your own thoughts before relaying them onto the board for us to be confused by.

Calling Trig juvenile is like calling Mother Theresa a slut. The guy is the epitome of calm, cool and collected.

I don't see how my post was unclear. I find myself calling out people for low DPS frequently and most of the time it is because they cheated the dungeon finder with PvP gear. If their DPS is fine then I wouldn't even know what gear they are wearing because I am not checking it. Perhaps I should draw you a picture since you appear to have trouble with the written word?

I wasn't calling him juvenile, I was saying his actions in the situation were. Obviously in this situation he got his panties in a bunch over someone commenting on his gear so he instigated a vote kick against that person. Now you may agree with his actions (which would be unsurprising) but that doesn't make the action any less juvenile.

That's a fine pair of sunglasses you're wearing, what color is the lens tint?

I can see myself reacting similarly. Maybe next time that mage will think twice before denigrating someone wearing PvP gear just because.

I don't see how initiating a vote kick on someone with a snide or smart-ass attitude is a juvenile reaction (and who is under performing to boot), but different strokes I suppose. I wouldn't want them in my group either.

Damage meters are a tool and ideally nothing more. You can tell who is damaging what, getting damaged by what, who is interrupting/dispelling or not, etc etc. IE they are a useful tool to analyze what went wrong on a failed boss attempt and sometimes that does include a person's DPS. If it is too low it can drag an encounter out too far for a healer to keep up with.

Unfortunately, there is a significant portion of the player base that use damage meters only as an epeen contest rather than the informational tool it was created for, never leaving the DPS tab to check out any of the other more useful data reported.

I guess I have a thicker skin than to let a comment on my gear bother me. I would have simply posted the DPS from the last fight (like the OP did) to warrant my spot in the pug and left it at that.

I wouldn't consider 14k under performing in a 5 man heroic, regardless of the DPS potential of the class.

Hmm... you should bring that thicker skin you're noting to these boards with you.
