I tried the free to play. Yes, I gave in and I did. And of course, it was as bad as I expected.
1) It's still Funcom programming. Took me 3 tries to get past the patcher into the game without crashing. The 2 first times, the game crashed, and then the patcher downloaded new data. The third time, no download and it worked. Those devs aren't even able to program a patcher properly...
2) One of my characters has now an utterly retarded name full of numbers. Something like "Korrigan397564999" (not the real name, only an example). Now that's a warm welcome back. And of course, no option to change the name.
3) The character is in an inn, so I go out into Tarantia... only to be stuck on the loading screen for half an hour. I ended killing the task.
My computer runs all modern games and MMORPGs without problems. Like someone said, being free doesn't make this less a crap game. Age of Conan was crap in 2008 when released, and is still crap today.
What a waste of a fabulous franchise...
Did someone in this thread say AoC is now less bugged than WoW? Well, I can now confidently call you a liar.
