If you've never tried it, Age of Conan is one of the prettiest MMOs on the market, and has a very interesting combat system. The last expansion was actually pretty good. It also has boobs, so there's that too, I guess.


So the best they can say about the game is

1. its pretty
2. interesting combat
3. Last xpac was pretty good
4. It has boobs


Going to need a lot more than that to get over the massive amount of suck that game was when I played it.

Gave it a spin through level 69 recently having quit it at release due to the content shift after level 20 and general lack of anything resembling polish.

What I think now:
1) Post 20 content, as stated above, is vastly improved. Where before you had to grind mobs to keep up with what quests were available... now you will have to skip quests unless you don't mind doing grey quests. This isn't just a change in the leveling curve but also the addition of new quests and zones.
2) Polish is vastly improved and less buggy than the current state of World of Warcraft. Quests aren't bugged and everything pretty much just works.
3) Not sure how someone could complain about the graphics. Graphics can be adjusted to whatever your computer can handle.

Above is in game footage some guild made that I found with a quick search through youtube. Note that it actually looks better in game than it does compressed on youtube. If it doesn't meet "today's" standards... please link the MMO meeting today's standards. Stands up to anything else out there which is pretty good for a 2+ year old game.
4) PvP mini games were pretty standard to everything else out there (wow, Rift, Warhammer, etc) and not worth rating. You like that stuff or you don't and it is what they have here. Open world pvp was also standard to other MMOs in class and not worth rating. Nothing on the pvp servers you aren't experiencing in Rift or WoW.

Probably as much leveling content as current WoW (or so it feels through level 69). It is much the same gameplay wise as what is available but a worthy choice if graphics or the specific lore weighs high for your personal criteria. I like something a little more hi-fantasy driven and probably won't stick with it much longer. Turns out I like to fight goblins and ogres a bit more than thieves and bears
